What isn't surprising at all is that none of his supporters on this site are willing to defend his actions one year in... as I asked a few posts ago... Is this what you voted for?

It has been a disaster. It would be funny if it wasn't genuinely the most concerned I have ever been about the American experiment.

I consider myself a Patriot. I love America. I love our country. I believe that there are aspects of our country that are truly special and "exceptional." We have a long history of sins and evil actions as well. Nuance is key. Throughout that, however, there is so much beauty in our country, it's people, it's diversity, and it's success.

What is truly sad to me is that the group that ran on their supposed "love of country" seem to hate SO much about what makes our country great. They see core aspects of our countries success as detrimental to it. The fabric of the country used to be held together by the idea that anyone who was an American citizen, native born or naturalized, was equally American. America as a set of values and an idea has been nearly universally accepted by the population as long as I can remember. We are now entering an era where what used to be a fringe idea is now becoming mainstream: That Native-born populations, or even populations of people with roots going back several generations are somehow "More American" than others.

This is not workable.

The current administration has failed or stumbled on nearly every single metric that they ran on, and have also introduced new problems that none of us voted for.

I know that many 3 Time Trump voters don't support all of the actions and are perhaps embarassed about SOME of the actions...but what is disheartening is that I would say 9/10 of them still would insist that what we have now is still better than "the alternative." I can't find the words to express how disheartening that is.

We are quickly backsliding in the direction of authoritarianism, against due process, the rule of law, local rule, etc while also hollowing out so much of what it meant to be "American." It is truly sad because it is destroying our already faltering image globally, severing partnerships that have made us the dominant world power, and abandoning the values that, despite our flaws, made us the stabilizing force in the democratic world. 

Long rant but a lot to just say...boy do I agree with you.

Meanwhile in Minneapolis... protestors are playing directly into Trump's hands. I  believe martial law is his ultimate game to stay as president for another term and Minneapolis will be a perfect place to practice for that eventuality... the violent protest must stop as Trump will simply escalate.

Just as Russel Vought and Stephen Miller planned. Not much we can do when Congress supports all these legal acts. It was only a matter of time before this happened. Honestly, I am surprised it didn't happen earlier. All hell is about to break loose in this country.

Ironic that Trump criticizes Iran for cracking down on protesters while he does the same here.  He manages to take hypocrisy to new levels daily.

^ What kind of person would want to accept this gift... a recognition of another person that has no relation to you?  This guy cannot steal enough thunder (and maybe more) from others.

Give her credit for framing it in his favorite color, gold.  And, the blue background matches the drapes.  She knows how to read her audience.

According to reports, however, that may not have been enough as other than a free lunch, he offered her nothing in return.

I'm sure it's only me but... not since 9/11 have I had this need to check the news like every hour to find out what idiotic statement Trump made... or who he insulted,  threatened or pardoned... probably just me tho...
