Hillsborough vote was much closer than I thought it would be - especially with the challenges and court decisions on it...along with low democratic turnout.

Question will be - do they tweak and bring it back in 2024 (since it passed by a large margin previously). Advocates are saying this only defers things.

So on top of the underway plans to overhaul the Metromover and expand it to Miami Beach, and the plans to expand Metrorail to Hard Rock Stadium, Miami-Dade TPO is now commissioning studies to explore constructing additional people mover systems within the county and potentially expand Tri-Rail to the west (along SR-836) and south (towards Homestead). At least one of these would replace previous BRT plans for that corridor.

It seems notable that Miami-Dade's TPO appears to take a tangible leadership role in developing multiple types of transportation solutions beyond just roadbuilding. Something to think about, perhaps.
So, to the young people fighting in this movement for change, here is my charge: march in the streets, protest, run for school committee or city council or the state legislature. And win. - Ed Markey

Why aren't they pursuing AVs instead of this 19th century technology?!

Their alternatives analysis for SMART included AVs, but they weren't selected anywhere. Looks like they've been pushed into the conversation, but aren't advanced enough to be the chosen alternative (except in Jax).
