This on top of FBC and the Bus Station puts a crazy amount of property in the works in that area  :o

Kinda makes sense. This bank is usually just a homeless spot and is blighted, with too small of a footprint to be reused for anything other than another drive-thru bank branch.

not sure how much of a market there is in that area, though, State and Union are really blighted corridors with several vacant or underutilized lots. Guess we'll see, though

Has there been any progress on two-way-ing State and/or Union, or are we too busy giving Shad Khan 50-year interest-free loans?

Every time I go dowtown these days, I can't shake the thought that no one's interested in doing anything because the city's let it gone to seed.

I get that homeless people will be around.  They should.  They have a right.

But that doesn't mean they can set up shop right in front of some biz, literally on the steps.

Not looking good in the old part of downtown.

I don't think there is any consideration of making State and/or Union into 2-way roads. For FDOT they connect Arlington and the Sports Complex with I-95 and downtown.  All the discussion I have seen of 2-way conversion has been south of Beaver Street.

Oh, maybe that's just been talked about here then. My bad.

Yeah, I don't see FDOT making State and Union two-way without another viable route to replace them.

I don't know what other option we'd have for State andd Union that would be preferable to what's there now.  Those roads carry a lot of traffic.

You'd think fast food & drive thrus would be lining up.

It's got more of a market than the Northbank does these days. What it lacks is a vision of what the corridor could become, which is a place that brings Springfield and Downtown together. I expect we'll eventually end up with a gas station like a WaWa and a fast food place or two. Both the McDonald's and 7-11 seem to do pretty good since they opened.

I would be happy to see one lane eliminated on each road. Both would function just fine with 3 lanes if the signals are timed properly.
