I believe in God's design for marriage. The union of one man and one woman. 8)

Nothing says "Love Thy Neighbor" like pretending person A, as a heterosexual, has this divine, legal right to tell person b, as a homosexual, they don't deserve the same basic human rights as you do. Didn't we get past this nonsense with the civil rights movement, women's suffrage, desegregation, etc?

In a country where one out of every two marriages ends in divorce, us straight folk don't exactly have the authority or clout to tell anyone they are going to tarnish the good name or sanctity of our marriage.

If the church REALLLY wants to turn the over 15 million gay Americans living in this country off from Christ and his message, this is a great way.

I'm sure Jesus would be the first one blocking off that gay man with cancer's hospital room when his partner of 20 years wants to see him one last time before he dies, but can't because he doesn't have the legal rights afforded by marriage.

Ken - Sounds like you wouldn't have a good time at the event.  Just relax and don't go.

This is just a public posting of an event that you can choose to attend or not to attend.

Ken, I totally agree with you and find it disheartening that such hatred stems from a church group. Yeah, that's a real Christian way to lead one's life.

You can bet that I wouldn't be attending either...I tend to want to follow the true meaning of what our Lord intended, and that doesn't include blanket hatred, or intentionally wanting to deny someone's loved one from having rights.

OK, let's chill out on the hateful rhetoric.  This is not a political discussion.  It is a thread announcing an event.  If you don't want to go, please, by all means do not attend.  If you would like to go, please, by all means attend.

And if you want to discuss divisive political issues, please, by all means do that elsewhere.

And what does God's design for marriage say about divorce and having children out of wedlock?  Don't these acts disgrace God's design just as much as say one man and another man getting married?  In fact, aren't these two disgraceful acts the real reason why families in America are so troubled?  Or do you still blame the two gay people down the street, raising a child together?  Sadly, I find most Christians ignore and will quickly forgive someone who has divorced, or mothered a child out of wedlock.  In my mind, the sins of an unwed mother and the sins of two men getting married would be equal.  Both go against God's design.  Unfortunately the issues are treated very differently, would you not agree?  I respect your belief, 1980, but find all of the hypocrisy that surrounds this issue very troubling.

Sorry, but if something's posted here, whether or not it's an event, then it's open for discussion. I'm sure that if there were posts praising this and in support of it, you'd be fine with it.

Everyone has a right to their own beliefs, thats what makes this such a great country. Attacking someone because of their beliefs is wrong, as juts recently we were all told this about an "obama get togther". We were told the rules stated you must take that to the polictic section, so I am going out on a limb here and saying this is the same case.

Please start a thread in local or national politics to slam eachothers beliefs...

Brainstormer, there are many issues that would fall under the category of sin. However, it's one's interpretation of the Bible, and which one they use as their guide for life, as to whether or not God denounces homosexuality. I do, however, understand that point that you're making.

Actually, as you might guess, I have my thoughts on the subject.  I just have the civility to keep them where they belong:  in the political section.

Again, this is an event posting.  No one is forcing you to go.  If your marriage is perfect, don't even consider going.  And relax.

Perhaps it's a matter of members wanting to discuss the very intent of the event posted. I don't consider that slamming

Why would this be political?

Oh I agree, it is a good topic to discuss, just don't think it should be discussed under "events".

JBM...you know what you are doing.  You are hijacking and spreading hate and you have no clue what the event is about.  It is about honoring God in our marriages.  If your marriage is perfect, then don't go.  K?  It's that simple.
