I'm glad to see that this will be more than a La Quinta Inn.

I've read a few articles note that Hotel Indigo was in play for the Ambassador before the developer went belly-up.

Not saying it isn't true, but I've never heard this anywhere else before.

Would be a great fit for either the Ambassador, or the Trio if Marriott doesn't work out.

It's an exciting time to be sure. There's a lot of very understandable cynicism toward Downtown development in this town due to a lack of progress for many years, but the strong growth around the county, several Urban Core neighborhoods taking off, and increasing civic pride generally show it's never been anything endemic to the city. Just get the right people in the right places and put the work in, and it's amazing how quick things get moving in the right direction.

I note that some repurposed historic buildings that get converted to hotels end up under Marriott's "Autograph Collection" brand.  These are typically hotels that have unique character, are more boutique in nature and can be smaller in size.  The closest one to Jax is Casa Monica in St. Augustine.
