Hello all, I've been lurking "this" site for the last 5 years since I moved to Jacksonville for my career right out of college. It was a great way to learn the news, developments and history of Jacksonville; which I had no knowledge of, despite being a native Floridian.

Last year, I purchased a home in Mandarin and said I'd sign up, but never did as I felt the site's content was slowly shifting away from what made me love it in the first place. With the re-branding of the site, I figured there was no better time to sign up and say hi!

I look forward to engaging with you all here. MetroJacksonville is dead, long live The Jaxson!

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Welcome! And I will take this opportunity to introduce myself as well.

I'm originally from Manchester, moved to the States for school and now I'm finally settling in Jacksonville. I've been here for just a couple of weeks, mostly unpacking so far  ;D I'd love any tips about the nightlife and other forms of entertainment around.

Welcome WM1990. I'm a number of years removed from my frequent nightlifing days, but I believe it's still a two-headed monster with the beaches scene and Riverside. Riverside has the advantage of supporting urban core neighborhoods close by and of course downtown events (fwiw), while the beaches has the beach and has been established longer.

You could sprinkle in a small dose of the SJTC as well as some random destinations around the city, but pretty much urban core/Riverside and the beaches are gonna be 1a and 1b.

Also, if you enjoy a little touch rugby please check out the jax touch rugby club. Always looking for more players.  ;D
