Who is excited for Jazz Fest this year?

johnnyliar

I'm very stoked for this year's lineup!
It's not quite as awesome as last year with Snarky Puppy as the headliner, but I've been wanting to see Lala Hathaway and Kamasi Washington for years, so I bet it'll be a blast!

Any bands you want to see specifically?

Didn't see the lineup for this year but they should seriously consider adding the sax trio Moon Hooch to the primary lineup. I know they played one of the late night Jazz Fest venues one year but even if you're not a huge fan of the jazz genre they never fail to get the crowds swinging.

Will be there Saturday and Sunday...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Jazz Fest is one of the best weekends of the year (as long as it's not being held on Bay Street).

Shameless plug, but in addition to several downtown restaurants being open... The Court Urban Food Park (downtown's food truck court along Hogan Street next to the Suntrust Tower parking garage) will be open until midnight Friday and from 2pm until midnight Saturday and Sunday.  :)

Peles Wood Fire pizza's new food truck will be debuting at The Court this weekend.

I'll be there. I like the layout they are using. The Bay Street setup was weird.

Gregory Porter is a legitimate talent that is a must see. He'll be taking the Main Stage (Main St) at 8:30pm on Saturday.

For those that maybe aren't in to traditional jazz, would definitely recommend camping out at the Main Stage (Main St) all night Friday. ELEW, Damien Escobar and Lucky Chops all have a more modern Jazz-influenced sound (ELEW integrates hip hop and soulful beats into his sets).

Sunday's lineup at the Main Stage doesn't particularly excite me, probably because I didn't grow up in the 70's... but I'm definitely camping out at Hemming Park Sunday at 8pm to see Lalah Hathaway, who has done guest vocals for the likes of Snarky Puppy, Pharrell, etc.

I'm excited that this will be the first time since ~2011 that I'm in town for it. And first one for my wife.

So how has it been so far?  Life happened and I wasn't able to go yet... hope to get there tomorrow

I went this afternoon (3ish) with the family.  The weather was fantastic, a bit warm, but it was almost nice in the shade.  Overall seemed to be a decent crowd and a good atmosphere, but my non-affinity for jazz, the so with a headache and the kids not wanting to be there being kids made it a little less enjoyable than it probably should have been.

I did enjoy walking around and seeing the city bustle, and if I had an artist that I wanted to see or an appreciation of the music we probably would have stayed longer.

Went there tonight. Stopped by the new Bold City location and enjoyed a jazz guitarist for a while, then walked over to the Main Street stage and enjoyed Kamasi Washington. It was a much larger crowd than I remember in previous years.

Yeah, nice picture. I would've liked to have gone. Always loved it when they did stuff at night in Jax.

I hope to make it this afternoon and evening
