^^^It's well known that Oakland is a place (along with Philly) where visiting fans wearing visitors apparel do not go. It's definitely a 'go at your own risk' situation for an opposing fans in Oakland; it's not wise.

^Neither the Raiders nor any other team in memory have moved because of ticket sales. They move because of stadium issues. I doubt scary fans are really the reason for the low ticket sales, though.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

The Niners and Giants got new stadiums... because Candlestick was a hole.  A cold and nasty hole.  Oakland Alameda is no better and should have been demolished and replaced 20 years ago... The A's are next... and the Warriors shortly thereafter.  These are deficient facilities and should have been replaced a long time ago.
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

How about ticket sales (which is team revenue, so that can't be overlooked), AND a stadium issue, AND a city that's the red headed stepchild to it's neighbor, AND a multitude of issues...Oakland is unfriendly for visiting fans donning apparel with an average of 54K fans, bottomline. Even IF 'unfriendly fans isn't the reason for low ticket sales' then it's even more concerning that no one will go see their team play in OAK; IMO that intimidation factor is more significant than you think.

If Jax averaged 54K (even with the poor teams we have had) sports national media would be constantly killing us. OAK averages 54K and all I hear is how great their fans are...One thing that I hate are double standards.

The Warriors are moving to San Francisco in 2019.

The OAK mayor tried to sugarcoat that in a conference saying "they're still in the metro area". LOL

That's interesting - I did not know that. I've always known that Eagles fans were very "spirited," but I found them to be pretty cool when they were in Jax for the Super Bowl. They were a lot more fun than the Patriots fans and there were no issues between them, as I recall.

Good article.  I think it kind of echoes what I've been saying - as long as the city continues to work with the Jags, they're going to be here for a while.  And I hear the 'corporate welfare queens' crowd, I do.  I get it.  But the reality is that our owner is ponying up plenty of his own cash to make these things happen when he could just as easily hold the city ransom for the entire bill and constantly threaten to move the team away.

That's why I think the Met Park / Shipyards switch is going to happen sooner rather than later.  So that Khan and the Jags can build a branded hotel / convention area near the stadium - it's another source of revenue for the team.   Will it cannibalize some of the business from the PO?  Sure.  But that should give the city more incentive to make a push to having an actual rail hub near downtown that connects with all of the other modes of public transportation.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they are all violent, belligerent or anything like that. Just inside Lincoln Financial Field, you aren't gonna see too many opposing fans there; it's not uncommon for visiting fans to get sworn it, beers thrown on them and stuff like that.

Since the Eagles moved to their new stadium in 2003, they've calmed a little. There was a reason their old stadium (Veterans Stadium, aka The Vet) had a jail and courtroom in the stadium.

That's crazy. I do remember stories about batteries being thrown at Santa or something.
