That would mean Allen would need to get first team reps, and I believe they were hoping BB5 would come out of this funk he was in. He didn't!!!

Doug Marrone named interim HC.

I was really expecting them to name Mike Mallory as interim coach.

I think you can scratch Marrone, Schwartz & Smitty.

Kyle is an interesting pick.  TC would probably be the front runner in Lamping's book.  I think Shula's star isn't as bright after this year's performance - big, mobile, gunslinger QB behind a shaky line without a real running game.  sound familiar?

And I'm a bit biased, because it's my pick, but I'm disappointed to not see Todd Haley on the list.  He's the one I would go after.  Previous HC, OC experience with 2 teams that love throwing the deep ball (Steelers & Arizona).

If so, wouldnt that make Todd Haley the first HC to have never played football....ever?

He took a lot of heat from some players in KC who called him "gopher" due to his propensity to hit the golf course early and often. He didnt earn much respect because he didnt have a clue on certain physical requirements to play ball, something the players resented.

He enjoys the X's and O's. Thats what drives him.

And those are things I didn't know about him, but are the experiences that I feel would make him better suited the second time around.

So what's the inside scoop about how he's been handled the O/C duties in Pit?  I think I remember some friction between him and Ben when he first arrived.

Don't you think if Marrone was seriously being considered they would have given him more than two weeks to audition for the job?

He may have been auditioning all season.

I would be shocked if Marrone gets the job.

I think he may get a courtesy interview but has almost no chance of being the permanent coach.

Call it a hunch, but I just get the feeling it will end up being Mike Smith. He has ties to the organization already. He was the Falcons head coach when Caldwell was there. He has a pretty good record from his time in Atlanta. I don't think it would be a very exciting hire. And he'd have to bring in a strong, experienced offensive coordinator. But I think that is where the signs are pointing right now.

Other trivia info.....

Todd Haley is a UNF graduate. Majored in Golf Management.

As far as I know. He and Ben see the light now. It was mostly about Ben's adjustments at the line. Took awhile to develop some trust.
