Mayor Peyton Presents the 2008 Budget to City Council

My comment was more sparked by curiosity than anything else.  Throwing money at the problem and preaching will not fix it.  Declaring war on criminals and pitting us vs. them will surely backfire.  My point about parents hits more at some of the fundamental reasons why society deteriorates.  When we set low expectations for our children, they will meet them unfortunately.  High standards and a quality education is far more important than putting more cops on the street.  When all a 10 year old sees in his future is what happens in the street in front of his house...why read?  Why work hard in school?  Why even go to school?  Mom and Dad don't care, so why should I?  We must change our mentality.
