So you don't like country people or their towns. Stay home.

Lawtey, Hampton and Waldo are probably the only places where you drive the speed limits. It is all marked well. Even a bullboard with "Speed Trap". The cops all sit in the same places.

Stay home, if you can't walk there don't go.

Good. Another speed trap town bites the dust. Here's another article that's almost cringe worthy in its pro-Waldo Police bias:

http://www.gainesville.com/article/20140930/ARTICLES/140939932/-1/articles?Title=Waldo-votes-to-disband-its-police-department

I like how the author spends most of the first page painting the cops as the good guys, valiantly standing up to lead-footed motorists:
Quote"Indeed, there is a speed problem in Waldo, but the city cannot afford its police department."

This sounds serious! Why ever would some pencil pushing bureaucrat hamstring the folks keeping them safe from these speed demons?
Quote"On Aug. 26, five Waldo officers revolted against Szabo and Cpl. Kenneth Smith with a presentation before the City Council that was rife with allegations that included an unlawful ticket quota, deceptive court appearances and unethical evidence storage."

Oh. Corruption. Unethical evidence storing. But this sounds like a revenue generator. Why ever would the city be unable to afford its hard working Police force?
Quote"During the Tuesday night meeting, Worley said an audit of the department conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement determined that the city would need to drastically update its storage facilities and computer systems to keep up with standards required for criminal investigations".

"The cost is just too high," Worley said.
Forgive me if I have little sympathy for a Police force that raked in money by praying upon unsuspecting motorists, but couldn't be bothered to meet the absolute minimum standards set by the state of Florida.

Attorney: Officers who exposed ticket quotas not given other opportunities

Four fired Waldo police officers plan to sue the city because they lost their jobs.

Waldo sits between Jacksonville and Gainesville and has long been a notorious speed trap. But in August, several officers came forward to complain about the illegal practice and corrupt leadership, prompting the city to shut down the department and hand it over to the sheriff.

Their complaints of corruption got national attention. The officers said they were supposed to be enforcing the law, but instead were told to break it.

Now they have an attorney on their side who says they are being punished for telling the truth.
