NE Corner of Lee & Houston St: Birthplace of JW Johnson, Landmark

At this afternoon's HPC meeting the commissioners will discuss LM status for this important landmark.


The lot is currently owned by the city and is vacant.

One would hope that a monument of some sort could be placed on this property to mark the location of the birth of James W. and J. Rosamond Johnson, in the 1870s.

I believe they'll be doing the same for the three unprotected shotgun houses on Jefferson Street, on August 6th.

You mean the three houses the City moved there and promised would be restored as a "LaVilla Museum" but never were?  After they destroyed the rest of that neighborhood, leaving these token few?  Those houses?  Those now have to be further protected too?  Sigh.

The commissioners approved the landmark application and it will move on to city council
