so the port authroity is represented but not the the transportation authority?

Jimmy

Time is running out to take the survey.  If you haven't taken the JAX2025 survey, I would encourage you to do so at once. If you have any connection to Jacksonville and care about its future, answer this short, but important, 12-question survey.

The survey:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JAX2025

There will be more opportunities in the weeks and months ahead to get involved.  This process has impressed me so far and I believe Jacksonville is up to following in the footsteps of San Antonio, where this process has already begun to reap rewards.

I'll see you there! This is the session where we take the vision targets people have set and start to focus more on the specifics -- how we are going to define success. This will set us up for the April meeting, where we talk specific strategies.

I hope the turnout is great Ben!  We all deserve a beautiful future.  Thanks for your hard work!

With all of the discussion about an uptick in the interest in downtown development I thought it might be a good time to bump this thread.  While the JCCI effort is one that is citywide, I was wondering if the effort has maintained it's momentum and how that might translate to the efforts downtown?  Is all of Jacksonville ready to support collective growth in the core as well as city wide?  Here's hoping Ben Warner will chime in on the status of this JCCI initiative. There is a planned annual 2025 event coming up on May 7th, 2014 according to the JCCI website.  There is also a new discussion about economic drivers as well.

Thanks -- we're excited for May 7, and you're all invited to Hemming Plaza during Art Walk (DJ will get going around 5, program starts at 6:30) while we share the results of the first year of implementation of JAX2025.

Short answer: We're way ahead of schedule. If San Antonio and SA2020 is a benchmark, we're moving faster towards our desired outcomes than they did in their first year. We're putting together a video and booklet that talk about our successes as a community, and you'll get a copy at the event. Think of it as a "pep rally for Jacksonville," where we celebrate what progress we have made as a city and build momentum to tackle the challenges that remain.

We're not done yet, of course, not even close. But we've got over 300 organizations working on portions of the plan (our "Partners in Progress") and more are aligning their work all the time. I'm extraordinarily optimistic for this community, and hope more people will share in both that spirit of pride and determination as we take a stronger action role in making the changes this community identified as its core needs.

Help us spread the word, too. We'll be all over social media next week encouraging people to be a part of the celebration -- now that we know what Hemming Plaza looks like when it's packed with people, let's keep doing that.

Sounds great Ben.  I really like the fact that you have engaged over 300 organizations in this effort.  Wow!  So the Art Walk is on the same day as the Jax2025 yearly event.  Nice.  Can anyone attend the Jax2025 event?

Please try to get out more promotion for your upcoming event. This is the first time that I've heard that an update will be forthcoming during the ArtWalk @ Hemming Plaza.

Ben Warner

Certainly all are invited to participate.  You'll see more information about the event soon -- we handed out a number of flyers at our One Spark curated space as a teaser, and those are following us on twitter @JCCITweets or @JAX2025 (please follow!) have seen the initial invitations, but the real push will start on Monday leading into the event.

If you would like an invitation to share out with others, please let me know and I'll send you the copy. Otherwise, just show up at Hemming Plaza during Art Walk -- I hope to see you there.

Cheshire Cat

Ben, please make sure to hit the site up again on Monday for the kick off!  :)
