QuoteThe ousted ex-president of Florida State College at Jacksonville is suing the board of trustees over his firing.

In a more than 30-page civil complaint, Dr. Steve Wallace, the embattled former head of FSCJ, said the board of trustees breached his contract by firing him at its August 13, 2013 meeting.

The vote to terminate Wallace's contract came in 2013 after the board of trustees learned the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was investigating his use of comp time.

A grand jury last year cleared Wallace of any criminal charges and the Florida Comission on Ethics also cleared him.

On page six of the lawsuit, Wallace said the board breached his contract by denying him wages and other compensation and benefits.

The suit also alleges that the board damaged his reputation, causing him ongoing damages through the remainder of his work life expectancy.

Wallace led FSCJ for 16 years. Even though his contract was terminated, he was given what many called a million-dollar golden parachute that included $336,000 for unused vacation time.
