I officially hate anyone who brings up parking.

Ride a fucking bike people, walk, park farther away, or stay home and live in a bubble.

America and the culture of convenience. Jesus.

I have an idea: use ALL that pent up anxious energy about parking and apply it to demanding better transit...
Look we are America's well most of us. And a lot of us want the "PARKING" to be within 2 city blocks. I would really like the parking to be across the street and I would have no problem paying for the parking! Now if Latitude 30 could get the parking lot that boarders E. Monroe St./ Main St. N./ W. Adams St then they would be set Ben I hope you calm down and learn to relax now that I have sad something about parking.  ::)

I live downtown. Parking is not a problem downtown.

The *perception* that parking is a problem is the real problem.

Jacksonville has no shortage of parking decks, perhaps if we made them more user-friendly we might be able to encourage their use.

Consistent and easily-recognizable signage would be a great start.  Downtown streets demand one's full attention, so parking facilities should be easy to spot.

Add a "space available" element to the signage so that as a driver I know that my three-lane banzai move to get into that deck will be worth the effort.

Implement a merchant validation process.  If you're coming downtown to patronize our merchants you park free in the decks.  Easy to implement in the decks.  Or, you can pay at a meter if you want "premium parking".  Smart merchants might even have a jar of quarters by the register; if we don't stamp your deck receipt we'll give you .50 for the meter.

I think it's more your Noone/north miami style of speaking that's getting me a little off track...

There is a parking garage across the street to the south, one cross corner to the southwest, a surface lot across the street to the west and a surface lot across the street to the north. Literally surrounded by parking they should be able to cut a deal for night time parking.

Uh oh! The parking biddies are gonna come out in full force! We can't keep them contained to Avondale!

Yes, yes, yes.

As far as the "letter of intent" - it seems like there have been previous letters of intent, issued to great enthusiasm, with projects never to follow. So I would LOVE to see this building used again but... I ain't holding my breath.

Lem Blogiver read in the T-U about Latitude 30 signing a letter of intent to occupy the old Haydon Burns Library, and, man, was he upset!  Read his comments here: http://blogiverstravels.wordpress.com/jaxonpool-2/jaxonpool/silly-bandz-must-never-die/

I was just thinking the same thing. It is in very close proximity to the stadium. People already crowd the one on the southside on sunday. Imagine having one up the street and around the corner from the stadium.

I guess that's true...if you consider over a mile just up the street / around the corner

If JSO didn't have the streets set up for an evacuation as if there was a natural disaster heading our way, it wouldn't be such a bad walk between the two.

We just need some street activity to make the walk interesting and it will seem like just up the street / around the corner.

I wonder if JSO could be persuaded to set up a gameday (or other sports district event) temporary bike route between downtown and the stadium so people could more safely park and ride to the game/event and back.  This would be way cheaper and greener than a mass transit solution.

^Riverwalk.
2 questions.  If you're not at the Landing how do you get safely across the busy east-west thoroughfares to the Riverwalk?  Does the Riverwalk go all the way to Metro Park?

I think it'll be an interesting place downtown.  My only worries would be how it would operate during Artwalk, and Jazzfest.  I'd really like to see some more interesting night spots open downtown though.

This would be a really nice addition if it comes together. I've seen some urban bowling alleys that are really cool, and Latitude 30 has a pretty unique concept. Hopefully this doesn't fall apart like the last couple of deals.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?
