Intuition Ale Works

Forum-

I am tasked with showing the Tailgate 32 crew around on Saturday. http://tailgate32.footballnation.com/

They are doing a 6 minute episode from each city they visit (all 32 NFL teams) and I am their un-official tour guide.

They are going to do a tour of Intuition and I wanted to take them downtown also. They will also be at our tailgate on Sunday in lot H. Feel free to stop by.

What sites in town would you suggest that would make good "B roll" as they call it.

I'm fine with those...how about meals? Orsay? 13 Gypsies?

Bold Bean/Stockton Town Center..

Avondale, the parks around Riverside...

Chamblin's, either uptown or Roosevelt....

The options!

Good ideas. Time to showcase the urban core. If they ask about the beach, just say, "Beach? What beach?"

Because they have a monopoly on all the cool houses in Jacksonville? Mr. Davis' relative has a cool house for sale, if interested....

Because they are directly next to Downtown, where they'll be.

a short walk on the Northbank Riverwalk I would say from RAM to the Haskell Building, awesome views of the city, might even see dolphins in the river.

San Marco Square

Hmm, the core. Your neighbors at Bold City, RAM, the Landing at night, San Marco Square, buying a rider, smoking a hookah at Casbah, hitting the downtown bars on and around Bay Street (after 10),  and all the other awesome places everybody else has said.

Why?  The beaches are one of the Citys' greatest assets.  Sure we all want to push DT; but the City as a whole is much more important.  Golf courses & fishing should be included.

Why not Eastside? Its more in the core, and def cool IMO (even though it gets no love). http://www.metrojacksonville.com/article/2010-oct-urban-neighborhoods-the-eastside

A couple things, Ben:

International Coastal Cleanup is this weekend at locations all over Jacksonville, including many in the core (Hogans Creek, McCoys Creek, and Northbank Riverwalk). Hogan's is the one we are always organizing things for on here, so I'm sure the rep for that one is from the forum (might be Noone). The Northbank one, since its right by RAM and easy access, gets a very good turnout (even though its not all that dirty relative to the creeks). Of course, dirty creeks and rivers might not be great advertising for the city, but the cleanup part is a hope/feel-good I suppose.

Also, after the cleanup, some people are planning to swim the 'Rebel Mile' as its being called (because you aren't technically supposed to go swimming off the RAM or Landing docks). Jim Alabiso (jumpingfish.net, the guy who swims in the river all the time, who did the 12 miles "Up the St Johns" for Riverkeeper) organizes these. Last Saturday we did a 180 (RAM to Main Street and back) with 4 swimmers and 4 yaks. I don't know the specifics of the tide for tomorrow, but we are at least planning to do a one-way from RAM to Main Street at about noon. That might be a cool thing to show. I'm sure Jim would be willing to talk about the river and his advocacy efforts as well. If we knew there'd be coverage, we could probably convince a bigger group to come out as well. Just an idea. If you want more info, PM me or something.

Otherwise, Burrito Gallery! You should also show them the desolate shipyards and say, "I was gonna build a brewery here, but apparently the city doesn't want to be known for being the great beer mecca on the water!"

Ask Jon about using his condo - you get a good view of both and throw in an impromptu 'Spastic Chef' feature....
