Our Top Local Story:  Speeding up port development is one of the messages we expect when President Obama rallies supporters at the Prime Osborn Convention Center this afternoon.  We're told he's fast-tracking a study on the dredging that will allow the port to start looking for funding a year sooner.  Obama will speak around 1:15pm and we'll stream it live on WOKV.COM.

The President's visit is one of several in Florida the next two days.  Obama is trying to appeal to military veterans, seniors and unaligned voters.  A new national poll by CBS and the New York Times puts Mitt Romney ahead of Obama by one point:  47-46%. Romney leads by eight points among men; the president leads by five points among women.  52% strongly favor Obama, while just 29% of Romney voters strongly back him.

No one is hurt in a chaotic robbery at the Walgreens in Riverside just before Midnight.  Two men are in custody following the holdup.  The Times Union reports up to ten people were inside the store when the thieves burst through the door.  Cops opened fire on one of the suspects as he fled out the back door--he was not hit.

Saying he was shocked to learn of an extraordinary cut, Sheriff Rutherford is questioning why the Mayor cut another six million  dollars from his budget without his knowledge.  In a letter to the Mayor and copied to WOKV, Rutherford says the surprise cut of an additional $6 million results in a grave situation.   He may have to cut 114 sworn officer positions.  Rutherford is asking for a budget "credit"--saying his office has saved more than six million dollars this year--and wants it rolled into next year.  So far we've not had a response from the Mayor.

He's sorry -- that's what the teen who posted the YouTube video of the Walmart smash mob is saying now that it's gone viral.  In the new video, 17-year-old J'quan Jarrell says he's ready to face the consequences. Meanwhile, the state president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference is expressing disgust over the spectacle. Pastor R-L Gundy says everyone involved needs to face the consequences.  He suggests having them clean the store for the next three months.

A stone's throw away from a St. Johns County school--a drug house is busted.  Tips led police to the home on Ardmore Street yesterday morning, blocks away from Pacetti Bay Middle School.

Inside they found 133 marijuana plants and several pre-packaged bags of marijuana.  Cops arrested Matthew Lanier on drug charges--he was released from jail after posting bond.

260 new jobs could be coming to Jacksonville.  Deutsche Bank is considering a 10 million dollar expansion to its campus on Gate Parkway.  But the bank is asking for nearly two million dollars in state and local incentives before agreeing to the deal.  The Jax Chamber says Deutsche Bank is also considering North Carolina for the expansion.

Our Top National Story:  George Zimmerman breaks his silence in an exclusive TV interview with Sean Hannity.  Zimmerman says he feared for his life as Trayvon Martin was bashing his head against the concrete during the scuffle that ended with Zimmerman shooting Trayvon to death.  Zimmerman says he's sorry about what happened to Trayvon and prays for his family daily.

San Bernardino, California is heading straight to federal bankruptcy court.  Its City Council voted Wednesday night to declare a fiscal emergency, allowing San Bernardino to avoid a lengthy mediation process.  City officials worry that they won't be able to meet payroll in August.

Zimmerman is just hurting his case more and more. He must  have a pretty dumb lawyer, because a smart attorney would tell him to shut his mouth. You're  being charged with murder and you want to go to the media and boo hoo about how you were in fear for your life????

Same with Isaiah Washington and Kobe Bryant.

Isaiah makes a derogatory remark about gays. Instead of  just apologizing once and leaving it at that, he just kept giving hundreds of apologies and became a spokesperson for GLAAD. Damage control to get  back in the public's good  graces. I didn't find any of it genuine.

Kobe Bryant is accused of rape and the next thing we see is a huge, expensive diamond ring on his wife's finger and he's suddenly sporting a tattoo of  her on his body. Yeah..damage control!

It's what I believe Zimmerman is doing. He's trying to appear sympathetic to the public. After going after Martin despite being told not to, lying about his finances, and displaying a pathetic macho attitude about that neighborhood watch thing, now he's such a victim.

The douche bag admitted he didn't regret going after Martin and didn't regret carrying a gun...said it was God's plan?????

I watched the interview and he seemed completely without remorse, even smirking like it was no big  deal!

What no protest by MJ'ers about DB wanting to expand their location on the southside? No ra ra to get them to move downtown? Brown not cheerleading for a downtown move? Where are his indians on MJ to make this happen?
