Mitt Romney caught in nasty net of lies

Romney himself said,  (paraphrasing) "I participated in Board meetings. If I couldn't be there in person then
I did it on a conference call."  (I wonder if he flew back and forth on a Bain jet?)

His attorney said his private and personal life continued "unabated." Those were his exact words.

I'm mean, those are his words, no one elses.

So I don't care what a CNN dude says.

Even CNN says that the Boston Globe article is not accurate.

Just because he was listed as the CEO, sole owner and managing director of Bain means he has no actual responsibility for the company? Talk about BS. However involved he was, he was still legally and morally responsible for the company he still owned and didn't transfer ownership of for three years.

Romney was still listed at the SEC as the company's sole owner and CEO. With that title, Romney is responsible for everything Bain did from 1999 until he was formally removed from that position.  That's why CEOs are paid the big bucks, because ultimate responsibility rests with them.

So I guess you know all of the details regarding the transfer of ownership of the company?  Should Romney have just given his ownership stake in the company away to the rest of the board members without any compensation?
Just because he owned the company still does not mean he took part in its day to day operations.

There are plenty of things to attack Romney on, but this is not one of them.

I suppose if Romney can argue that being the CEO of a company doesn't mean you have any actual responsibility for it, which is a little troubling for a potential president's future accountability, don't you think? In fact, it sounds like Rumsfeld's view of being defense secretary.

Only one of Romney's stories can be true, and one of them was under oath. And if he really didn't do anything, then the issue is Romney's possible perjury in 2002 and 2011. The Republicans once impeached a president who committed perjury. Are they now going to nominate someone who did it as well - and insist it's no big deal?

Lies and hiding money all over the globe...he's a republican..what did you guys think was going to happen...i'm surprised we don't find a few wives packed here and there..this man could lie cheat and steal and republicans would still line up around the block to vote for him...look what they put up last time...i say they know not what they do.

I am sure that all of you have vetted the many Obama lies just as thoroughly.

The issue behind the issue is his honesty and accountability. He absolutely lived and worked in Utah while he was "saving" the Olympics. When the chance to run for Governor came up he ran back to Massachusettes and claimed he had never left. He did this in order to satisfy the resident requirement for Governorship.  The state of MASS is very clear about what constitutes residency. The language reads something like " residency is established if MASS is the center of your professional, personal and social life." He and his attorney went before the elections commission and said I never left, my social and private life have carried on "unabatted."  At the same time he filed documents with the SEC claiming to be the top dog at Bain.  100% sole owner of the company, CEO etc...................

And since some crappy stuff went on at Bain during that time he now wants to claim he had nothing to do with it, was totally disconnected. In front of the elections officials (2002) he claims he flew back and forth for Board meetings.  By telling one little lie he has now had to keep on doing it to cover up the first one, lke a cat in a litter box. Now I guess he's hoping someone will scoop it out and dispose of it. Boston Globe thought it was necessary to put it out there. I agree.

The Republicans went to great lengths not to have Romney as their nominee. They supported a wide variety of wingnuts because the alternative was Romney. It should be clear to the country now: the Republicans got nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Whatever Romney did or didn't do or say, it doesn't matter.  If he had five wives who all had five abortions each, it wouldn't matter.  HE IS NOT OBAMA!  And that is the reason and the only reason he will get any votes.  Nothing else matters.  The Republican establishment had to cram him down the throat of the party so that they would have any chance at all of winning the election.

Obama is the "other" to so many people that nothing else matters.  He is a non-American, Muslem, Socialist, Fascist, Manchurian Candidate, extra-terrestrial alien, Trilateral Commission Member, Elder of Zion, and whatever other boogyman has ever been invented.

He is from the other tribe which hits at a deep, primitive, psychological level for lots of people.  In West Virginia, an inmate at the state prison got more votes in the Democratic primary than Obama.

Romney is a white, well groomed, slick, SAFE, familiar kind of person, not some scary guy who doesn't look like our people.

Obama is also Bush II.

He also got just under 70,000,000 people to vote for him, the highest total in American history, and 10,000,000
more than voted for McCain. Anybody on this blog can get 70,000,000 people to show up for them, I'd be impressed.

And the fact that he did so well, brought the crazies out of the woodwork.  Many people suddenly found themselves in a country different from the one they thought they were in and it has sent them into a panic.

"Take Back America, Be American!"  Have you ever really thought about the meaning behind that bumper sticker?  What does it really mean?  Take it back from whom?  How does one "be" American other than living here?

Has any other president ever had so many weird conspiracy theories about them?

I don't think we are dealing with differences in political philosophy here.  Obama has governed ( when he isn't being blocked by the House ) as a moderate Republican.  I think we are dealing with an existential panic on the part of a large portion of the population; hopefully not a majority of voters.  The very shrillness of Obama's opponents sounds like irrational panic to me.

I'm so sick of that political commercial with Hillary Clinton saying "Shame on you Barrack Obama" WAY back in 08' before Barrack was even president, when they both were debating senators. They make it seem like she said it a month ago or something, boy the Republicans are getting really desperate.
