I found this to be a really eye-opening lecture. It's not at all anti-police, but pro 5th amendment, and does a really good job of breaking down how there are virtually no benefits to answering questions from the police, and how doing so could really come back to hurt you, even if you are completely innocent of any wrong doing. There are obviously exceptions to every rule, but I would highly recommend watching and sharing this.

Yes, very very good information...they ought to teach this in school...Police will lie, cheat, trick, and everything else to get you to hang yourself.  On the other hand, we need them, but the odds are stacked in their favor once they single you out.

Unfortunately , it has come to this. One of the first things you should teach your children is that the only thing they are to say to the police when and if they are being questioned is " I want a lawyer".

A fed friend of mine told me that for anything other than traffic stop for cause, the right answer is "am I free to go, or am I being charged? If I am being charged, I would like a lawyer present during questioning."

The 5th amendment is a reminder that a statement is not required, and I would encourage all of you to keep that in mind.  But I wouldn't go so far as to teach children to only offer up "I want a lawyer".
