Outdated event signs downtown

At Art Walk last night and bike riding downtown this past weekend, I noticed that there are still many Jazz Fest light pole signs still up. And these are not isolated to one area, I've spotted some on Hendricks Ave. in San Marco, Laura Street next to the Bank of America building, and the following picture I snapped last night around the corner from MOCA and Hemming Plaza. I also recall seeing a Springing the Blues poster hanging outside of MOSH at least a month after the event ended.

I'm a big fan of these signs, I think they add vibrancy to the streets. However, why is it such a problem for the city to take them down in a timely manner? It's been nearly two full weeks since the festival ended, and we have the following picture taken less than a block from City Hall.

In case you have not noticed, public works has been a wee bit busy fixing up the old courthouse to get it ready.  Leave them up until the next Mayan year, for all I care, better to have them up than nothing.

True that public works is busy, but I can tell there has been an effort to take some down sporadically.

I agree that having signs up are nice, but perhaps a switch to non-event or time sensitive ones. The ones in San Marco Square are like this, they have a design with "San Marco" written underneath. This could be a nice way to distinguish neighborhoods, for the areas that have this type of street light.

Excellent idea, let's get DVI up on ladders and put them to work for the first time in their careers!

The only place Downtown where the banners on the poles are upkept and not out of date are the ones around FBC. DVI could take on the role of changing out the banners. Like I have stated earlier any government entity in this town has a problem with maintaining things properly.

Excellent idea FSU, you would think that this would be on the radar of the DVI Downtown Ambassadors to report at the least.

According to DVI's website:
QuoteThe Ambassadors pressure wash and spot clean sidewalks, remove graffiti, pick up litter, and keep the streets clean.

Seems to be a perfect fit to me.

Upkeep, attention to detail & a general lack of caring seem to be a big problem here. How hard is it to take banner signs down? Don't put them up in the first place if you're not gonna take them back down in a timely manner. At least then it would keep the city from looking like it was ran by a bunch of amateur half-asses.
