Hey, I'm a young, aspiring photographer and was wondering if anybody knew of some good locations to do portrait sessions. The more uncommon the better. Fields, brick walls, dilapidated buildings, rail road tracks, parks, anything you can think of whether its well known or not! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Can't say for sure but please stay off railroad property. That is trespassing and the railroad police do not take kindly to trespassers. Besides that its dangerous. As a long time railroad friend of mine likes to say "Be prepared for a train coming at any time, from any direction, without warning."

If you want abandoned rail shots head over to the Springfield Warehouse District or Harper or Swan Streets near Dennis Street, just west of downtown.  Both have old rail sidings in COJ ROW.  Fields, abandoned buildings, brick walls, etc. head to the westside of downtown.  nearly every thing west of the new courthouse is a field scattered with a few forgotten brick buildings that have survived the wrecking ball so far.  You can find urban prairies in most of Brooklyn these days as well.

Three suggestions:

1). The Haydon Burns Library. The property manager is amenable to photo shoots.

2). Boneyard Beach on Big Talbot Island. Very evocative setting.

3). The upper floor areas and back alleys of the building that TSI and Marks are in.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?
