Jacksonville receives $400,000 IBM Smarter Cities Challenge grant

Jacksonville could benefit greatly from something like the study IBM did for Charlotte.  In dealing with Hogans Creek issues, its been abundantly clear to me that rarely do different departments coordinate with each other-which is simultaneously wasteful and maddening.

The key here is turning a white paper into an actionable item... that takes leadership (hello Mayor Brown).

My guess is they will recommend quite a few things similar to what Metro Jacksonville community has already figured out.  In fact, quite a lot of outside consultants said the exact same thing!  The city might actually listen to them this time!

^Yes, I doubt you'll find something groundbreaking that hasn't already been suggested or mentioned in the past.  There's nothing new under the Sun.  The key will be if officials actually commit to implementing the recommendations.

I agree field....if IBM can help departments coordinate and collaborate in making decisions, that would be a huge improvement
