I wish the season was over right now, because this team is completely out of control, and serious damage is being done to the franchise with each subsequent game. I love the Jaguars and desperately want them to stay, but I don't know how anyone can justify going to another game this season. I can take losing, but I can't the dropped snaps, sloppy fumbles, dropped balls in the end zone, illegal formations, etc.

Prove me wrong hopefully, but Gabbert is running out of excuses. I've defended him as a rookie quarterback repeatedly, but he acts soft, can't hold on to the ball, and routinely BADLY misses on easy short passes. Sucks that he has no one to throw to, but I mean, he's spiking the ball into the ground on every other pass.

The fans have shown up in force for two seasons, and the franchise has repeatedly let the fans down. It's not the other way around.

I commend the fans who stick around until the end, but I don't blame a single person for leaving, especially after that awful, nail-in-the-coffin snap.

Just an AWFUL night for Jags football.

Embarrassing.

Hey its happened to every team in the NFL. I wish everyone would act like we are the only team to ever have a bad season(s). Every team has had there good and bad years. Every team has been a complete mess at one point.  Its all part of the cycle. I suggest if people can take it, then dont be a fan. Its all part of being a true fan and having a nfl team. Gotta take the good, bad and the ugly.

The "then don't be a fan" argument is incredibly lazy. There is no practical distinction between a "true fan" and a "non true" fan. The only thing that matters is who is willing to open up their wallets and pay for the product. Further, in a market this size, it's not the "true fan" that fills up the stadium, but rather the casual swing fan who chooses a Jags game over a trip to the beach, movies, or zoo. And, again, not to beat a dead horse, but it's also incredibly simplistic to suggest that it's losing that is alienating the fan base. Losing doesn't help matters, but I would argue that cheapness, especially transparent cheapness, has ruined far more goodwill than the losing itself has. Whether it be firing David Garrard on the eve of the new season to save a few million dollars, keeping Del Rio and his proven losing philosophy around three seasons too long to avoid having to pay out his contract, fielding a 90 year old punter who single handedly cost us a win, not even making a pass at any big name free agents, etc.

Every team may have bad years, but the Jags are incredibly unique to the NFL. We're a small market, with little tradition, no surrounding cities to draw from, and a ton of transplant. What works or can be gotten away with in a metro area of 5 million with four generations of legacy fans simply isn't going to work here. The bar needs to be set higher.

The best thing the Jags can do as a goodwill gesture to the 62,000 fans who have supported them each home game is to open up the pocketbook during the offseason and hire a world class coach. A great wide receiver would be fantastic too, but I won't get greedy.

Best post of the yr. JAGs probably Will lose more season ticket holders like they did the 08 season. People are not going to keep paying to see that bull $hit week in and week out. Missing alot of players on D yes but offense is offensive and shouldn't be allowed on the field. I feel sorry for MJD. I think last night was the first step to and end for Jacksonville. This city will not support a losing team for to long. If they don't some playmakers next yr this team is as good as gone. Go Sharks!!!

Not to beat a dead horse but... GOD I wish we could get rid of Gene next year. The only way this season can get any worse will be if we lose to the Colts on New Years. What a depressing way to start the year that will be. Next season can't get here fast enough. Hopefully help is on the way...

KenFSU,

Great points!  Might I also add that Jacksonville is in the South, meaning it takes added incentives for people to find more interest in professional football over college football.  I also would like to add that even certain 5 million person strong metros (ahem Atlanta) have trouble filling seats in bad times.  Jacksonville has so many challenges.  Among them beside its small size is its much lower than average household disposable income.  Nobody who has been to a game or been a season ticket holder needs to be reminded of how expensive it is and how much some people must sacrifice to attend.  I think it's time for the team's leadership to be humble and proselytize before the fans...maybe poll the fans what the number one thing they would do is...And then go do it!  If that means spending a lot of money on a new coach or a new quarterback of the poll's/fans' choosing, then so be it.  If you can spend $760M to buy a team, you can probably shell out another $30M to keep the thing going.

My vote is for new QB. The one we have is terrible.

Sooooooo much negativity today! Can everyone take a deep breathe? Common. We're not the LA Clippers, Miami Marlins, Browns, KC Royals, etc. Professional teams aren't always good! Gotta take it all in stride. I think all the change (new owner, new coach, QB, etc) is making everyone 100x more anxious than they should be.

Relax. It's only Monday.

Don't knock the Marlins too much...they do at least have 2 world championships and majorly reloading for this year...an impressive resume compared to the Jags.

Of course! Welcome Jacksonville Florida! one requirement in order to be a citizen is to be a negative person, you didnt know that?  On side note, you are correct Ben. We have to take it all in stride. I think fans are overly excited and expected a miracle from on high on last night. We have to start being realistic. We still have a young fanbase and we have alot of maturing to do. I mean what the hell do think New Orleans Saints fans went through before 2009??? There team SUCKED for like 50 years before they had their big break. We have a few bad years and were ready to throw in the towel. Its time to grow up Jacksonville and Jag fans.!

Again, terms like "grow up" and hollow cheerleading completely ignore the economic reality of filling a 65,000 seat stadium in a very small NFL market with a million other entertainment options competing for the same depressed level of discretionary income. We've filled the stadium for a losing team all season. People are fine with losing. The true danger to the franchise's viability in Jacksonville comes when people lose faith that efforts are being made to improve the team. The casual fans need the hope that the team is on the right track and that ownership is committed to spending the money necessary to compete. I'm not hearing much of that around town today. "Suck it up fans" is in no way a practical solution to ensuring the Jags are here for the long run.
