MNF, Building Lights, and the National Spotlight

All,

Monday Night Football is this coming Monday, and we have had the nations' eye this week.  Certainly there will be discussions on television about the sale of the team and the city.  I think it's very important that, if possible, the Mayors Office asks building owners to keep their buildings lit up for the ESPN cameras.  We talked about, on this forum, how it wasn't done last time.

Stephendare I know, among other founding metrojax members, have an open ear with the mayor.  Will anyone who can help ask the Mayors Office to reach out to the building owners/property managers ASAP so we look good on national TV?

Thanks.

Not sure it will work...last MNF game they supposedly used stock footage of Jax. I personally didn't notice, but it was all over the Jags message board.

I saw tonight that the Wells Fargo building is back to being lit in teal

Whatever happened to the colored lights on top of the Main Street Bridge towers?  Were those for the Super Bowl only?

MNF often uses stock footage.  Famously, for the Jags' first ever Monday night game, it used a shot of downtown with the Independent Life logo still in place (at that point it was Accustaff).

Sunday Night Football uses better footage with more local flavor - I remember shots of Forsyth St. and Clark's Fish Camp for the Jags' last SNF game in 2008.  And NFL Network uses terrific footage.  Jacksonville looked like a glistening jewel for the one Thursday night game I had to watch on TV.
The tourist would realize at once that he had struck the Land of Flowers - the City Beautiful!

Last MNF they didn't use file footage.  I couldn't believe the downtown shot was dim except for the Wells Fargo Building.  Only people familiar with downtown could make out the rest of the skyline.

The direct tv blimp is here so I don't think we are getting stock footage tomorrow night

Hopefully ESPN will update that taped footage of the "Modis" Building; Atleast show taped footage of the Wells Fargo Center.

Cover the game, ESPN, then get the hell out.  Only things I like about that channel are Sage Steele, and an unexplainable attraction to Suzy Kolber.  Otherwise, I got no use for 'em any more.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."
