So it's just going to be grass?  maybe they can hire a qualified landscape architect in the meantime to design a nice public space.

A local landscape architect volunteered his services a month or two ago.  So they should already have a plan for basic nice green space by now.

That would be Chris Flagg, I believe.  He designed the new park at Friendship Fountain.
