What's going on with the random avatar on FB posts?

Every MetroJax facebook post has a random poster's avatar next to it for no (seemingly) rhyme or reson.  I was wondering why.

Its just the way FB does links when you use the share button. It always looks for some icons on the page to accompany the shared links so it looks more snazzy on FB. So its just picking random avatar icons from the first page of threads it seems.

Whoever is doing the sharing part can turn off the thumbnail before they post it, but they're not doing that.
