Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

He didn't look good this preseason.  I do not believe he gives us a better chance to win even early in this season.

All I can say is.. I knew it was coming. After his up and down performance last year. Then we drafted Blaine. I told one of my good friend months ago that were going to pull the byron leftwich on him and BAM! It happened. Im not surprised at all. If Luke ends up being average, like Garrad then we really didnt lose anything and still should have a decent season. He is only a place holder for Gabbert anyways. Garrad was being strongly evaluated during the preseason and he failed miserabley. When he threw that interception on his FIRST drive of the falcons game I was like " Oh God not again!" I counldnt, and still cant defend anymore. I know one thing for sure, a real job would not have given you three to get your performance together so he should consider his self lucky.

There's no defending Garrard - he was never worth the money they gave him.  However, I will say that a halfway decent offensive line and some wide receivers would have given him a fighting chance.  With this cut, the Jaguars are $33 million under the cap.  I hope they plan on spending some money and giving Gabbert a better supporting cast or else he won't look much better.

I dont know if it was even the receivers. That is an issue, dont get me wrong, but I think the number one issue was him being inconsitent. When hes at his best, we play like champions. When he plays bad, we played bad. Weve been addressing that, but Garrad cant even get rid of the ball. My femlae friend who know nothing about football even said " why does he take so long to throw the ball and why does he throw it so slow". He just wasnt cutting it. I wanted to believe in him, but all is lost now.

Agreed.  He looked terrific in 2007 when he was locked in all year, despite a worse receiving corps than the 2010 or 2011 units (and I think the receivers are better than they're credited with being).

I am a big fan of Garrard as a person.  He's a first class guy to everyone, charitably inclined, decent and a gentleman.  It was very easy to root for him and to want him to succeed.  I liked him at ECU and was very happy the Jaguars drafted him.  His was the first jersey I bought (of course, I'm now a candidate for "Confessions: Jersey Hoarding").  I thought he gave the Jaguars a better chance to win than Leftwich and liked that decision in 2007.  But I understand the football decision now.  I wish the timing could have been better, but I think they tried to give him a fair shot and plenty of chances this preseason.

I dont think there are any Coughlin players now. I think Garrard was the last one. In a way its good to see the end of the Leftwich-Garrard era. Del Rio seems to be getting another year, cause if the Jags suck will it be over coaching or the inexperienced QB?

Brad Meester is the last Coughlin player.

Shocked I thought DG and JDR would leave together. Hope Luke can stay healthy. Even though I am somewhat glad the DG erra is ova. I will miss him scrambling abilities. Go Jags. sec 103

David was a class-act. He was always a team player, but I think it was a good decision. I still would have liked to seen him without JDR, at least for 1 season.

What dont understand is, does anyone realize what we are doing? Im noticing a horriable pattern. As soon as we started losing under coughlin it was " off with his head". Then in came Del Rio and we started back winning immediately. 9-7,11-5,8-8 and 12-4. Then once the "shack harris effect" kicked in the 2008 season, now we want to dump Del Rio. I think Del Rio is a good coach. However, he is not tough enough on them. If you want excellence, you have to demand it. Not pat them on the back and tell them everythings gonna be ok. One thing about Couhglin is he yelled and screamed until his face was red, but they produced at their highest level on the field. I think that is my only negative with Del Rio

The differance between Coughlin and Del Rio is that one had Brunell, Smith, McCardell, Boselli, Taylor and BRackens.  The other did not. Del Rio inherited a talented but aging roster and has never had consistent play at any position except RB (MJD).
