I had convo with a cab driver awhile back and he made a good point. NO ONE was going to be able to get us out this mess. Obama, Hilary or Mccain. This country was and still is screwed beyond repair. NOBODY can fix this. NOBODY. We (as a country) did it to ourselfs and we are going to pay for it for a long time to come. The damage was already done.
And I have a feeling the next president is going to put the icing on the cake. Im just bracing my self

American company does not matter American parts and labor does.

Is it either or both?
Just as much of either as you can without wrapping up your life in it.  We just need to favor what we want if buying American is what we want.

Cars are not the only product that applies here. I see DOT projects being done with Korean made equipment.
That has to stop. Pay more for American, keep the work here.
Pronounce a temporary stop to all foreign aid until we get our own house in order.
American military posted overseas spend their $$ in those countries, not ours. That has to stop.

As long as corporations put profit before people then we are screwed. And we are run by corporations, not people.
There are almost no public school techers in Congress. Our Congress does not reflect our population anymore.
The folks who have access through lobbiest are the ones who get what they want. There is broad consensus that
the super rich need to pay higher taxes, but Congress wont even consider it. Geuss why? Congress owes their allegiance to the super rich, not the folks who elected them. The "Citizens United" Supreme Court decision  is the crown jewel of this political philosophy. It allows folks in any part of the world to have a say-so in American politics based upon the depth of their pockets, not the meaning of their ideas. And Citizens United is a result of appointing a lifelong corporate lawyer to Cheif Justice of the Supreme Court.

Has capitalism imploded on it's selfish self?

Probably. It has been for some time, they just don't say it. A little shot of capitalism goes a long way. But too much & everyone but a select few bleed to death.

I mean, I understand the need for it & its a big reason why we as a country have a lot of "stuff", but then again. If you don't make enough of these pieces of paper we call money & say, can't afford healthcare for your family, or this corporate-controlled system is bearing down on you in a number of other ways, then I'm not sure its so great.

There's no real reason why anyone anywhere in the world should starve or die because of money, but it happens all day every day. It effects everything we do in our lives to a point, IMO, that it becomes sorta ridiculous if you sit back & think about it. I just think we as a species are capable of so much more than making our life goals to hoard a bunch of paper bills.

Although communism sucks too in a number of ways, so I dunno. Maybe a good mix of both is necessary??

As long as we have imperfect people running the government (which will be forever because we all have flaws), we will have imperfect government.

If you think about it, the only revered political leaders are the ones who have been gone long enough for people to have forgotten their mistakes.

And I know from my experiences leading organizations, that it makes me more aware than ever of my shortcomings.

Wow. Reviewing my post ( and the President's speech) I pretty much nailed it. Yay for me. And US(A).
