Here goes Rick "let's get back to work" Scott once more. Nice work if you can get it.

QuoteHogan's deal will be worth $118,388, including a $95,789 salary. He will serve as the three-member commission's only full time member. All members were full time until this year, when two were reduced to part-time.

Must be nice.  Any bets on whether the new PERC chairman will be double dipping and whether the Tea Party will protest?  LOL

Hogan's salary ALONE would pay 4 teachers.  Priorities, man. Priorities.

Honestly, I think he could do well there. Labor relations were one of his strengths.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

The tea party knows how to score some serious government money.  First Billie Tucker with her sweet JEA contract and now Hogan with his new gig.

They hate taxes and fees only when they're not at the teat.  Hypocrisy in action.

Or government spending unless it benefits them and then turn around and act like they never wanted it to begin with.

I guess Hogan won the election afterall. This job is way easier than being mayor.

So the guy who thinks it is OK to fantasize about being a terrorist out loud in church is our six figure PR guy.  Well at least the debates showed us he is really slick when expressing his ideas with people. Wait that may not be accurate.

I'm surprised to hear you say this since it was my impression that Labor parties mostly hated Scott and are not going to take kindly to any one promoting the Scott message.

Do any of you think that Hogan is not qualified for this job?

I understand that a lot of this criticism is because most of the posters here dislike Hogan for one reason or another, and I'm not going to argue that.  But in trying to be objective here - it sounds like a good hire.  Hogan isn't going to be Mayor, and he's not going to be Tax Collector, he's got a background in labor negotiations...sounds like he's a good fit for the job and Scott saw an opportunity to pick up a good negotiator.

Yes, it sounds like a lot of money, but it's a full-time job and the salary seems commensurate with the responsibility.

Hopefully the return that the state gets on what it's paying for Hogan will be enough to hire a lot more than four teachers.

If that's the case, then it wouldn't have mattered who Scott would have picked for the job.

Yes, time will tell of course, but I do think Hogan has the background for this and could be good for the job.

And the complaints about the salary are way off base. In fact this commission has been cut considerably; Scott reduced it from three full time members to one full time member and two part-timers. Whoever got the full time spot was going to have a substantial amount of work on their hands.

Two peas of a pod, IMO.   Scott and Hogan.. Scott might as well make him a cabinet member, except I doubt Mike wants to reside in Tallahassee.
