Obviously Alcohol and Mechanical/Technical jobs don't mix.
(I won't comment on marijuana and job productivity or hand/eye coordination/ manual dexterity for that matter)
What I can't get by is how lightly a Martin/Lockheed employee takes his job!!!..what complete A**holes! ...I'm GLAD you were fired!
We stranded engineering/technical misfits  here in Jacksonville would love your $48-$150 an hour job...GRRR >:(

I will condemn their behavior, however it doesn't help your argument at all.

If you don't like unions you can post reasons they shouldn't exist. This just isn't a valid one.

I gotcha, Lunican.  I have my gripes with unions that I have posted numerous times.  My only argument in this post is that this has happened before, so 'here we go again'.  Unlike some other posters, I have actually worked for several years with the same company in different states. In one state, non-union, and in the next union.  BIG difference in atmosphere, productivity, and profit.

Pot-smoking and drinking during working hours is not acceptable - union or not.  Chrysler sticks out because of the government take-over.

And as copperfiend pointed out, some companies allow a couple drinks during lunch.  In my experience though, the employee must be in a sales role or management where they are entertaining clients, etc.

take it easy, man.

If that's all you meant, then why try so hard to tie employees smoking pot to unions? What does one have to do with the other? Do you really think that non-unionized employees never smoke pot? Or do you think the requirement to hit a bong is buried somewhere deep in the UAW's union contract? I think what everyone is objecting to is your twisting an incident involving a handful of employees misbehaving into some sweeping indictment of unions. Total non-sequitur, one thing has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

Well Chris:

I didn't, the union employees did that.  As pointed out - this isn't the first time. And I'm just as blaming management as I am the employees, but primarily the employees because they are the ones doing it.  Also, pointed out in another post:

Apparently, this is a national epidemic:

no, and that's a ridiculous assumption. but the bust captured on film and admitted to was all UAW.

I didn't say that, but if the same behavior is caught twice, then well there is a problem.  And its not 1 or 2 employees mind you, but several.  And if you will read before judging, they were turned in by their coworkers.

Union workers police their own.  Kudos to the Unions for having the type of employees who would call out this type of behavior.  Everyone should hire Union based on the conscientious workers not afraid to take a stand against the few bad apples trying to ruin it for everyone.

If this thread was in any way trying to express the important part of what happened hear that is how it would read.  It has been posted as a cheap shot in a very pathetic attempt to make Unions look bad.  Sorry but your effort has been found to be sad at best.
