I'm stuck between Actionville and The Core

Dude, your post was the perfect reply to my Marvin the robot post!

Jeffery perhaps we should add 'Bay Tree District' to the poll and allow us to change our votes.

How about planting a forest (100-1000) of bay trees in one section of the shipyards property?

Still, I think The Core rolls off the tongue better. Especially after a few cocktails...

I couldn't agree more strongly. An urban forest, urban farm, or a community sports park would be a great solution to the Shipyards disaster. It's just an eyesore now. And yes, "The Core" is really easy to say. I think we can all agree than any of these name suggestions are better than E-Town Zone.

Points to ponder: The Core reminds me of a rather lame movie of a team drilling to the center of the earth. Also rhymes with "The Bore".

I personally don't entirely dislike the name otherwise, though!

To me "the core" speaks to a larger area than the defined limits of Bay to Adams, Liberty to Ocean.

Agreed--I don't dislike "the Core", but I just think of the Core as referring to all of downtown Jacksonville and the nearby streetcar suburbs (Riverside, Avondale, Springfield, San Marco, etc.) as opposed to the rest of the Duval exoburbs, however I'm not convinced it has enough of a distinct brand for a compact entertainment district trying to claim an identity.  It may even frighten away some potential suburban clientele skittish with it's "big rotten apple" connotations.  If we're going to call it the core, we may as well just call it downtown.  Anywho, that's my opinion.

Is the plan to be all Entertainment? Misleading if not and Entertainment is in the title.

If you go to Atlantic City it's The Boardwalk
If you go to Vegas it's The Strip

Where's the Miracle Mile?  Los Angeles!  We could do that now. Just keep the place autocentic.

How about Chicago? The Magnificent Mile.

I know we use the term urban core to describe the entire downtown area from La Villa to the shipyards... but I think by simply mentioning "the core" most people could visualize the more central "entertainment district.

actually we need to start thinking of the urban core as the pre-consoloidated city...or, as I like to call it, inTown

The Core is the term DVI uses in their nightlife district marketing

Naming of the district should be an organic process as it develops. Forcing a label results in something ridiculously faux sounding.

Good point!

Well, E-town clearly isn't working.

Hey, how about Puburban.

Since the introduction of "Bay Tree District" name to the poll, could someone unlock the poll and allow us to change our vote OR completely reset the polls?

How about adding "Theatre District" to the poll?
