That is great news! I actually notice the tides turning a few years back. And this not including the sporting events that were held there. That is outstanding. I hope we keep the momentum. My friends and were just talking about how there is so much more to do in Jacksonville than there was in the past.

I think anytime Jax shows up on a positive-type list its a good thing. But really - less than 7k per show... not THAT impressive. But since the list seemed to focus on the total patrons and not the per show average - perhaps the booking agents will see it positively as well and Jax will see more big time acts come to town.

The Sharks have definitely been a large help with the overall numbers.  The games I've been to haven't been sellouts but have been pretty packed and LOUD!

The Jacksonville Sharks proudly announce season tickets for the 2011 season are now available. Ticket packages, starting at just $45, will include all nine games for the 2011 season and a free commemorative football ($30 value) for those who purchase or renew their season tickets by August 31.*

The Jacksonville Sharks, currently fourth in the league in attendance, are averaging nearly 11,000 fans at each home game this season. With a strong fan base, one would think prices would be going up for 2011. Steve Curran, a partner and the VP of Ticketing said, “We are very excited about being able to maintain our price levels for season ticket holders. We promised them a great product at affordable prices and they responded by purchasing over 4,500 season tickets in 2010. We expect to be over 7,500 season tickets for the 2011 season.”

Season ticket holders receive benefits including huge savings over single game tickets and no ticketing convenience fees. They will also receive the Sharks Card, which allows for discounts and special offers at local businesses in the Jacksonville area. Season ticket holders purchasing or renewing their seats in full or electing the EZ-Payment Plan by August 31st qualify to receive one free 2011 commemorative football for every two paid seats.* The Sharks EZ-Payment Plan enables fans to split their purchase into equal monthly payments. Shark Pit and Arena Club ticket holders will also receive a commemorative Sharks lanyard and ticket sleeve. In addition Shark Pit season ticket holders receive a free season parking pass.

With all the financial hardships families are going through at this time, the Sharks are simply the best affordable family entertainment that you can experience. this is why i say there's nothing goïng on in jacksonville--my tastes run somewhat counter to wailing voices emanating from beneath cowboy hats.

Many people in the area like country music.  The arena books these shows because they sell tickets.   If you want to see "your tastes", then go to the shows that support "your tastes".

Jason - The study in the TU excludes Sporting Events. When the Arena has a sellout for Graduations that TOO is excluded.
