Massive Creek Cleanup March 19th

I like the idea PeeJay.

The Jacksonville Rotaract does one large service event per month.  For May, they want to help clean the creek.  That's 20+ volunteers right there.  If MetJax could throw in another 20, thats a heck of a clean up.  If we added burgers, beers, and brats to the mix, we would be making quite the scene downtown.

40 people cleaning Hogans creek and HAVING FUN is pretty tough to ignore.

PeeJayEss and Capt. I like the ideas and the matching enthusiasm. Make no mistake about it that the issue is growing. Could always contact Roberts Eatery 904-485-0273. Also for those still in the May elections contact him and he'll hang your yard sign on his tent. For him it could be a true double. He wants to paddle the creek and see it for himself. And then he could just fire up the grill and cook for all of us.

As for the drinking. I like it. We may have to ask the legislature for our own urban transition area. That may be easier than the parking. Both still require permission and oversight.

Sooooo? When's the next one of these? Capt, you mentioned Rotaract coming in May, that still a pastability? A cleanup is one thing, if we're gonna do food et al we're gonna need to get planning...

Capt. I'm awaiting your orders. I've got my inner tube and I'm ready to tube Hogans Creek. Your leadership on this will then allow us all to attend a board meeting of the St. Johns River Water Management District in Palatka and showcase to the newest member of the Board former Mayor Hans Tanzler that he may have water skied on our St. Johns River but our David led the group that floated down Hogans Creek and thus introduced a new generation of people who are excited about our City, our Downtown,  and want everyone to VISIT JACKSONVILLE!

How much would the Jacksonville Historical Society charge to rent the parking area?

Excellent Idea PJ.  I've been thinking about this for a week or so.  I was thinking about 2-3 weeks from this past Saturday.  I'll holler at Rotaract today and see if they are still interested.
