MNF, A Chance to Showcase Downtown

I don't know if I'm out of order here, but I just past by the Prime Osborne and took note of the grassy parking lot near the Skyway terminal.  There were lines waiting on school buses to shuttle patrons to the stadium.  Is it me, or is that not good?  One of the main reasons I don't frequent as many Jag games as I should is because of this fact AND the fact that after an evening of beer and shouting I'm usually faced with the "what to do now" question when I'm not shuttled right out of downtown

QuoteI betcha if BOA was still the Barnett Center the top would've always be lit at night.

It certainly is lit up like a light bulb in Uptown Charlotte.

a dont get me wrong i like the lites but can we not leave them on all nite lets think about the enviorment
No one is saying leave the lights on all night, turn them off around midnight like the Modis Building does.

Despite the loss, ESPN picked up some fantastic night shots of the downtown area, especially the Main Street Bridge.

Also, the 12th man was a freakin maniac!!  You guys were the loudest I've ever heard!

Yeah, but add this to the commentary in Pre-Game Show that said we were a "Nowhere" City with a "No-name" Team... painting a picture for the World that the Misfits -vs- Chic... BULL S#*T!

Tony Cornheiser is a hack.  I was ready to jump into the tv and give hime a fat lip and a black eye after being forced to listen to his anti Jax rhetoric.

I was there, I am there for all of them, Great atmosphere, there was no other place I would have rather been. I used to get all upset about national media taking cracks at Jacksonville, but I dont anymore. I realized that making fun of Jacksonville is the popular thing to do right now, it gets a chuckle from people around the country. But you know what,I dont care, this is MY city and the Jags are MY team, and I love Jax I have lived here all my short life and, to me, I think its a great city.

You know, I think that you have to take the hits and roll with them.

When I was still fairly new to Jacksonville and in the Navy I lived in a trailer park out by Mayport (anything was better than the ship and I had NO money) I had my highschool girlfriend come down and visit me. She had so much fun teasing about the trailer, the first place she wanted to go when she got in (it was about 2 in the morning) was waffle house... Years later, what she remembered about the trip wasn't my trailer or the waffle house, but how great the people were, and how much fun she had.

Does Jax have a redneck/ghetto crunchiness to it? Hell yes. Should we embrace it? I think that answer is already answered every time they play sweet home Alabama at the stadium and the place goes nuts. I think the thing Jacksonville needs is a sense of self confidence.

SO VERY VERY VERY TRUE.

Outsiders will start to respect Jax when Jacksonvillians start to respect themselves.  Stop trying to be like Miami and embrace what is unique about JAx, would be a great place to start.
