Any news of anything replacing it? How about a fast food place or a CVS? Or maybe just another bar? How about a rooftop bar??? I've always thought a bar with an open air/rooftop section would be pretty cool downtown. Just rambling.

perfect place for a McDonalds!

It is the perfect place for a downtown bar with a large beer selection and good food and music... >:(
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Jay from DG thought it could be a cool burger joint (not fast food) with a good beer selection.
Hard to argue with that idea.

1 of chicago's epic burger would be great there .

Walgreens. They love to build on corner lots. :) I kid... It would be great to have a late night diner there. Something that stays open past 2 or 3am. I think that's one of the things that downtown lacks. With all the people at DG, Lit, Ivy, Marks, Dive Bar, TSI... there's not that many late night eating options downtown. I guess if you want to count the taco place adjacent to TSI and maybe the hot dog stand guy outside of Marks... What else is there?

Steve

Well, I don't dislike the thought of a CVS or a Walgreens, but while they like to build on corner lots, it's not like this is the only one.  Trust me - if CVS or Walgreens wanted to be down here, they would (and it probably wouldn't be there).

Since it has restaraunt stuff (bar taps and hood) in there, a restaraunt/bar is the logical choice.

Outside of urban environments CVS and Walgreens are often single tenant standalones.  In a real urban environment they will locate where their numbers work AND where the landlord yields to a lease agreement that completely favors them.  The landlord may hand them an agreement to negotiate on, but real estate guys with CVS would literally just laugh at that and say "no, here's the agreement YOU will sign or we will not locate here".  7-11 is the same way.  They do it because they can, and all the power to them for it.  Now knowing about some of the landowners in downtown Jax, even if we had the numbers to fit their criteria, I don't see who would be wise enough or humble enough to have a AAA rated drugstore/neighborhood store like CVS come to their building.  I really don't see it.  If landlords aren't even willing to negotiate fair terms (for both sides) for local and profitable restaurants, I really don't see how they are going to let themselves get bulled over by a CVS or Walgreens, unfortunately.

I can think of a great place that has 30 beers on tap, burgers, and is not fast food and walking distance from all the bars downtown...............

Comncense: we r open til 3 am on Friday n Saturday. Sometimes other days but there is not the demand for it yet. We r working on our visibility.
Arteest: I am sorry you have had a bad experience but we also do not offer table service. This may change in the future but I doubt we ever will during late nights and will always look into any complaint and strive to be better. I actually have never heard of our food being awful and we have a huge amount of regulars n would love to know what u got, and if u let anyone know because we would remake it if there was something you did not like or make you something else. If you would like to stop in we'd be happy to let you try something else and leave with a great experience loving the food.

Sorry Northstar Substation, forgot to mention you guys in that lil rant. Speaking for myself though, usually around 2:30am and after I'm usually craving someplace that has early morning breakfast types of food. I can't tell you how many people leave downtown and head to iHop and Denny's over on Atlantic Blvd just to get breakfast on Saturday nights/early Sunday mornings. That's why I think it'd be nice to have a diner type of place downtown that offers some options like that. On a sidenote, I've never had a bad experience at Northstar the times I've been there late at night either.

We have been heavily discussing breakfast food for late nights. We are hesitant due to the odd set up of our kitchen but are remodeling in December. We have been experimenting with breakfast pizzas fo our regulars when slow so if we can find a quick way to make them we'll start seling them. :-)
