St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update

Anyway, I can't see why Ben Carter would pay for such a thing when shoppers will just drive from one end of the center to the other if they don't want to walk.

Isn't part of the draw of SJTC 'luxury'?  I would think being taken from place to place would fit in with the theme of the mall.  Regardless, I agree they wouldn't pay for it and even if they wanted to, I doubt they would take up road space to lay tracks.

Yay! I'm so excited that a Louis Vuitton is coming to Jacksonville, I have waited sooo long for this. I actually feel like Jacksonville is moving up now!!! But a Kitson in Jacksonville would be nice too!

Maybe to blend in with phaseIII when the upscale department stores are built.

It looks like the building in picture 3 will actually have two floors of retail.  Many of the buildings are two stories tall but only have shopping on the first, but I don't think this one is that way.

Some of the larger Pottery Barn stores, Crate and Barrell stores do have two and three stores.  I doubt this will be the case the SJTC.  It's probably more for looks than anything.

looks like our tenant list beat the TU by a few weeks.  A few of these stores were mentioned on the forums over a month ago (Aerie, Metropark).

New phase at St. Johns Town Center: The wait is almost over

The St. Johns Town Center's second phase is still under construction, but shoppers' wait for the slew of new shops will be over within just a few weeks.

Representatives from Simon Properties released a full list of the phase's retailers for the final phase Wednesday. Most of the tenants have been reported by the Times-Union, but there are a few new names in the mix, including:

- Juicy Couture, a celebrity favorite known for its terry cloth track suits

- Aerie, an offshoot of teen retailer American Eagle

- Lululemon, an athletic wear shop

- True Religion, an upscale denim retailer

- Metropark, a trendy youth-oriented shop

it's almost getting big enough that they need a people-move of some sort.  otherwise, they're going to have people parking at one end and driving to the other and backing up their parking-lot traffic.  perhaps a rail-trolley could be useful.

A cool monorail would be awesome!! Trolleys are....well I dont see why people like those things....I like the futuristic modern vehicles better.

Practically all with more stores continuously coming in.  SJTC isn't really suffering.  In another economic boom/population boom it could easily handle an additional Neiman Marcus/Nordstrom combo with smaller chain retailers like Burberry, Gucci, Marmi, Intermix, Theory, Barney's Co-op, etc and more condos and a high end hotel.  That was the plan for the next phase, which will undoubtedly happen sometime, probably sooner rather than later.

While incomes have risen over the past decade and population has grown significantly, more and more [dumb] people are placing higher importance on fashion/partying.  In Atlanta even though times are tough your average club goer and Lenox Mall shopper undoubtedly does not hold a good salary job, so like suburbanites are willing to pay a higher percentage of their income for transportation, these young people are willing to spend all of their hourly wages on overpriced glasses, designer tees, $20 cover charges, and $300 7 For All Mankind wayyy overpriced shirts and jeans.  The same is true in Jax, but in Jax it seems like there are more shoppers that can legitimately afford this stuff at SJTC than at Lenox (where I worked so I know).

Just go to Miami.  There are like 5 Neiman Marcuses within a 10 mile range and all the other associated stores.  Sure there are a ton of rich people down there, but there is a huuggggee population of guido/Chonga types who don't make a lot but are willing to go into high high debt over fashion and cars and stuff.  It's utter stupidity.  I know some rich people here in Jax (names won't be mentioned but let's just say it's a wife of a Civic Council person who is friends with my poor mother) who only buys good lookalikes and rarely ever the real thing.  She could easily afford to buy out an entire store, but doesn't even shop there.

Almost all of them.
