Gianoulis versus Thrasher: Radio debate

I did not get the chance to hear the debate on WJCT-FM this morning.  Can anyone fill me in on what happened betweern Gianoulis and Thrasher?

I listened in early on in the car. They were very civil and I thought it was a good conversation. Lots of underhanded sniping from Thrasher. He's definitely going the Tea Bagger Patriot direction.

I simply do NOT understand the vitriol thrown at the Tea Party movement.  With all the bullshit that's been coming from Democrats and Rebublicans since who knows how long, only the Tea Party repeatedly gets shit on.  If they were such lunatics, then leave people to determine that on their own, without the name-calling.

Anyway,  I don't know much about this race at all, just the debate I just listened to.  But even now, I'd give the edge to Gianoulis simply because she's not a career politician.

I can't be sure, but that looks like a rhetorical question.  But I'll drop in my two cents anyway...

From my limited understanding, it's a bunch of people pissed off at both parties and career politicians, with the focus being on personal responsibility (and therefore, smaller government).  Sure, that's supposed to align with the "conservative values" that the Republicans claim to have, but the Bush administration, clearly, was anything but that.  It was mostly pandering and political flip-flopping, IMO. 

I think Obama was the tipping point, though; his campaign had me convinced that his presidency wouldn't ever be about partisan politics and race.  But that's all I've seen.  Oh...and even MORE gov't spending.  I don't want the guy to fail; a President that fails WILL affect me in some way.  But right now--to me at least--it's not looking good...

Those people that normally sit at home shaking their heads in disappointment about "politics as usual" started making signs and got on TV.  This group of folks are intriguing at the very least, which is WHY they get so much coverage, as it seems to be a buttload of them.  I'm not a "Tea Bagger", but I certainly don't like the idea of government having its damned hands in everything, because they've sucked at everything they've ever touched. 
So...now the Republicans are trying to win favor with the Tea Party folks because they want those votes.  And the Democrats have dismissed them ALL as racists and psychos; we'll see if that was a smart play in a few weeks.

IMHO - the Tea Party movement is a sincere, but overdue, demand for fiscal responsibility in government.  I believe that what many people take issue with is the corporate co-opting of the Tea Party movement.  While big government is a problem for many constitutional purists, they leave out the perils of leaving our government in the hands of the big corporations...

I think that Ron Paul's version of the Tea Party had a chance to be a respectable movement until the movement was hijacked by far right wing christian groups and corporations. I find it hard to take seriously anyone that says "I want smaller government but more military funding." I also find that their choices for political leaders is laughable. Rick Scott? O'Donnell? Sharon Angle? My God, they're a bunch of blabbering loonies.

So right now you have a (generalized) point of view by anyone not making a buck off of them as "A bunch of old racist crazies who say they want smaller government but really want more defense spending because The John Birch Society, Glenn Beck and News Corp say so."

In addition, it's really easy to pick on the weak-minded. 100,000 people herping and derping to G.B. on the mall was like shooting fish in an intellectual barrel.

Looking at the TV the other night, when here comes an attack add from Mr Thrasher! Not only anemic but pretty much without substance! If this is the best he can come up with........he has lost allready! Go Ms Gianoulis...........she has my vote!

Now there's some BS about Gianoulis stealing Jeb Bush's campaign logo. While it looks the same, I think it's a distraction from the issues. I hope everyone else sees it as such.
