I have a suggestion for Mr. Mayor:  one place he can begin to cut costs in revitalizing downtown would be to not put so much money into braille signs.  One company’s got the monopoly for supplying Jaxonpool’s Public Works Department with braille signs, and they’re eating up the city’s budget.  Read more:

With the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind so close, I have no problem with braille in places like crosswalks or restroom entries.

We have an 'international airport' and there isn't ANYTHING in the place that speaks to people in their own language. Multilingual signs would be a good start, especially with the major Oriental carriers at our port.

Ock did you even read this story? rippley408 isn't talking about removing braille from Jacksonville? It's all about having one Company doing all the signs. ::)

Hi, Ocklawaha  and  If_I_Loved_you,  Thanks for reading the blog.  With all due respect, the blog is a satire on the absurdity of Tea-Party-inspired cost-cutting measures.  What I was trying to do is ridicule nit-picky the absurdity of a certain extreme-conservative, no government mindset.  I am also poking fun at the ocularcentric assumptions of the name "Downtown Vision."

From now on, the Blogiver's Travels links will appear in the "Break Room" section.

All best,
Chris
