Jaxoutloud is no more. Jacksonville is poorer for it. Fortunately there is MetroJacksonville. I love our city and its people and I love the Jaguars.
Does anyone know what happened to JaxOutLoud?
Too bad it's gone...I didn't know it existed. I ran across this one this morning by accident.
http://forums.jaxobserver.com/
The site met an untimely demise at the hands of its founder. She said that people were too busy to maintain it and that it was time to move on.
Not all agree with that assessment, but it's not important.
We're here now. Some of us have been here for quite some time. :)

Was it just a forum or a site like this? A stand alone forum shouldn't be too hard to maintain...especially if one avoids over-moderating it to death.
Yep, it was, and I agree. Aside from dealing with spam and the occasional need for moderation, it wasn't too hard to maintain.
Some back-end stuff requires extra time. But no matter. RIP JaxOutLoud.
OK Jimmy! I was wondering just what the heck happened...........been trying to log in for a few days now and it was not happening! Crying shame dude, but I understand! Anywho..........welcome and keep your toes crossed that does not happen here!( I don't think that it will!) The TU website is not worth wiping my rectal vent with.....checked it out and was very disappointed with what was taking place........that one is not for me!
Nah, these guys have a good structure for their operation. Nothing to worry about here.
We hated to see JOL go by the way-side. But little could be done to change the decision once it had been made.
The TU forums and story comments are... certainly less useful than a decent forum. That's for sure.
I concur! Welcome aboard.......allways room for one more opinion!

Agreed. Worthless.
Another refugee, although I've been around here for just as long, as both JOL and MJ were formed by refugees from an earlier board.
I hope Joan makes it over here.. with her law enforcement and teaching background she is a clear lens in the fog sometimes.
I forget..was her avatar JBM?.
Some of the topics were so deep in our city budget and projects, that I just couldn't do my primer research to actually participate in the thread!
Everybody will see and find each other ..after all,we all live in this town together. :)

Well, thank you....I've been here for quite some time.
I too am very disappointed in JOL's demise, but as Jimmy said, we can't do anything about it once it was taken down.
You got me there J.. :D....i should have recognized the tone of Springfielder's posts..(J/K!)
I wonder if Blacksheep is here too? Jose Gaspar as well. And the wonderful and determined Pearlstone.
Diane?...Glorious?
many of us tend to use facebook for communicating...you can find most of us there ;)
It would be nice to see Carla Miller over here. I thought her outreach at JOL was especially effective.

Yes she was very helpful in explaining a number of things her office is doing or trying to do.
So, that's what happened.
I was just getting used to the site and its participants, as well as the topics covered. Felt I could also participate and not be overwhelmed by this, a much larger and more diversified venue.
Guess I'll have to adapt.
Timkin - you here? What's happening with Annie Lytle?
JOL was a great site. The posters and contributors were the most informed I've seen. I read the site often, but posted infrequently. I felt more out of my league there than here.
JOL is missed.

Well, I for one am glad to see the whole happy family back together again... Yeah, we had our squabbles, but what family doesn't? The beauty is there is room for all right here.
OCKLAWAHA
Agree Ock.!! And speaking of happy and families, I wish each and every one of you and your Families a Happy, Safe , and Blessed Thanksgiving !!!!!
There's now a JOL page on facebook, for those who wish to reconnect...

Folks,
I am toying with the idea of bring JaxOutLoud.com back online the beginning of next year. I have been receiving many many requests to restore the site and much of the information the public can use to make their choices during the next election cycle is logged in the archives and may do alot to help people make informed decisions for Jacksonvilles future. As is usual I have alot of inside information coming my way and with the future of Jacksonville looming during this election cycle, JOL has the opportunity to speak clearly as it is privately owned and not beholding to the business or political establishment in any way. JOL was created for and committed to informing the general public and other serious entities about what is happening outside of their access to information in Jacksonville. What is the general feeling? Is this something folks would like?
Metrojacksonville is an excellent site with many talented members. It's vision and community involvement is much needed and very valuable. JOL offered a differnt type of venue that many people are missing. What say you folks out there? Will it be worth the time and energy to put the site back up?
Well, as one of the admins from JOL, I never wanted to see it shut down and would like to see it come back up
I'd love to see it come back.
In a word....YES.. :) the sooner the better :)
Yes!

8)*** YES *** 8)
Pleaseeeeee!!!!!!!!
JOL need not be frenetic.
Measured,a relaxed pace,perhaps often sedate activity.Perhaps a Journalistic leaning.Investigative.The obscure profiled,remembering the future.
Whispered conversations, column inches left on the floor, official record book and page :-X.......
shared :-* 8) ;) :) OUT LOUD :'( ;D :)
Diane,
Maybe you could make it a a WikiLeaks for Jacksonville government. I'll bet there are people inside that would love anonymous ways to let us know what the trolls are up to.
YES plain and simple! There is a venue and this could be just one more brick in the publics favor!
Welcome aboard, look forward to the banter!
