Title: Marc A. McCullough: running for district 7
Post by: Springfielder on September 27, 2010, 09:19:29 PM
I've recently contacted Marc A. McCullough; running against Gaffney for city council, district 7. I for one would like to discuss his stance on issues that I feel are important to Springfield. I'm not at all pleased with the representation of Gaffney, and will very easily vote and support someone that is more willing to actually serve the people for whom they're supposed to be serving.

If you're interested in joining me and talking with him, we'll be at Three Layers, Wed @ 6:30

Is Gaffney running again?  I had heard that he was going to run for a state office?

I won't be able to make it but Springfielder I'd appreciate it if you would ask him if he would support a pocket pier for Hogans Creek? Tell him that I will take him on the water in a boat and he can see this opportunity for himself.

Please ask him if he would support immediately opening up the 680' Promised Downtown Public Pier which was part of Shipyards/Landmar not only for the constituents in Dist.7 but really the citizens of the state of Florida. There are immediate funding options available to make this happen. Private as well as Public funding options.  One option is FIND (Florida Inland Navigation District).

If elected to the city council he could have an immediate impact on making these benefits happen now and would show his constituents as well as the people of Jacksonville that he is serious about all of us celebrating and promoting our St. Johns River our American Heritage River.

Noone............if he does anything at all, it should be the Pier! Anything he does bets what Dr Johnny has done to this point..........zero equals zero! By the way, meet Robert today, and have returned the favor! Much thanks!

yes he did, and it involved medicare fraud or something like that....this guy has history too, but he's put it right out there, not like others that waited until it was found out

I like him, he's an up front and seems to have a good understanding of what it is to actually serve the people of the community

So what is his relevant experience/education and what is the negative "history" referred to earlier?

He lives in Springfield, on Hubbard Street.

He's charming, he loves Jeff's strawberry cheese cake, and Uptown in the morning.

He is a longshoreman who has lived in this district all of his life.  He has four teenagers--

He is on the executive board of NEFCAA Northeast Florida Community Action Agency.

More questions?  Let's assemble them and ask him!  He's attending October's First Friday.  And not only that, he has offered to participate in the next Make It Happen!  event.

Isn't that the sad truth, which is why Marc will have my vote...we need someone that's actually sincere about wanting to help the people they're elected to serve

I don't think that I have ever seen a picture of Dr Johnny, on top of a ladder and with a paint brush! In fact has anyone ever seen Dr Johnny in Springfield? By the way, he voted "Yes" on the Budget......time to vote him out!

Gaffney on top of a ladder? Nah. More like on top of a bulldozer.

He was SPAR's ace in the hole, and he was how SPAR was able to get done a lot of the evil stuff they were doing.

I would love to be there but unfortunately I have class...wouldn't you know it I'm getting my Masters in Public Administration..didn't want to mention that on the rooster post or you all would have crucified me, lol.

This guy seems like a winner...I also agree that Gaffney is a JOKE and does nothing for the community AND he voted for the property tax increase this past Weds.

Marc and I paddled Hogans Creek and after living in Jacksonville his whole life was unaware of this urban natural beauty. He loved it and supports its potential.

Lake, You talk about corridors and the more you look at the potential adjacent corridor that exists from the water and the city owned land that can be created by just moving a fence. Who owns the land from Washington St. to the Maxwell house plant?

Marc loved the location by Washington St. and Liberty. He will look into a potential pocket pier at this location. He is also in looking into the 680' Promised Downtown Public Pier.

The residents of Dist. 7 need to realize that this is one of the biggest opportunities  for Springfield in the upcoming city council and mayoral campaign issues.

I also ran into Marc at Roberts eatery at 8th and Ionia.

Mr Noone........I concur..........Dr Johnny needs to leave since he has done nothing at all for his district's constituants! So much for elected representation............. he needs to be de-delected!.....by the way, Robert says HI!

CS...since you don't live in Springfield (or anywhere in District Seven for that matter) how would you know that Gaffney has done nothing for his constituents?

Inquiring minds wish to know tufsu! I do know quite a few people in Springfield and their general concensus is ......Dr Johnny is a waste of space..........plain and simple! I pay a visit to Three Layers most mornings, when I make my numbers workout wise, have a regular morning group who do live there, plus I am kinda participating with SOS on an irregular schedule...........like the homes and like the people! Haven't run into anyone who thinks well of Dr Johnny..............so I gotta ask do you know someone that thinks well of him? If so ....why?

Love CS.  He supports many businesses and activities in Springfield.  3 Layers would have to lay off staff if he quit hanging around the 'hood.

Thanks guys....I generally agree with CS's mindest when it comes to Gafney, but I'm not sure most of the voters in his district feel the same way.

Thanks kids! Springfield needs some real representation on the Council, not just a person filling a seat! Infact there are too many on the Council now who just represent special interests or a select few instead of all of the voters! I understand the way of the world, politically wise, you have to have give and take and there are compromises that have to take place inorder to get anything done but the wefare of the majority needs to be formost in any elected officials mindset! Your voted into office to make a difference and take care of the voters who put you into office.........you should a vision, you should have an agenda, you need a game plan from day one and Dr Johnny has not done anything that I am aware of! I will take part of that back........he did vote in favor of the property tax increase John Boy pushed for!

Swung by and saw Robert today. Showed him the agenda from the last city council meeting and 2010-856 the legislation that very soon could have far reaching effects for transient vender's in Duval county. For him it could be his livelihood.  He had a call in to Marc. He is also going to contact Gaffney.

Had my sausage dog with the slaw and a coke. It was quick, fast and very good. Robert wanted me to remind anyone that stops by and gives him your username on this forum he'll fix you up with his breakfast deal or lunch deal. And there are still some free deals for metjax members. He may have a BBQ treat Friday.

CS, You rock! Robert says hi. Looking forward to meeting you someday.

Going to the St. Johns River Alliance Board meeting in Palatka today. Pocket Parks Pocket Piers. If Duval county can have pocket parks you can have a pocket pier.

Hogans creek can have a pocket pier. City council candidate has indicated that if elected he will Make it Happen. Didn't get that feeling from councilman Gaffney.

Two years ago this month I went to the Commissioners of FIND (Florida Inland Navigation District) about the issue of a Pocket Pier.
TWO YEARS, TWO YEARS. FIND- Appointed by the Governor representing the east coast of the state of Florida.

FIND is supportive. FIND is good.

Its the Mayor or city council member that you have to be concerned about.

Its not hapening in Dist.4. Will it happen in Dist. 5? Any other council district?

So far if I was in this District this man has indicated that the issue of access and economic opportunity will be a priority for his constituents. He also indicated that he wants to Save and use the Promised 680' Downtown Public Pier.

Sure there are other issues but you would be getting my vote.

Invite him to an event.  I'm sure he'd be happy to be there helping or answering questions about issues.

Indeed, or why not invite him to come sit and talk with you....I did, and he answered any questions I had for him as a candidate.

Oh...good news...he is now qualified and will be on the ballet!!
