QuoteThe 2010 Florida Coastal Cleanup  is part of the 25th Annual International Coastal Cleanup coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy and supported locally by Clean It Up, Green It Up.

Worldwide, thousands of volunteers will spend their morning collecting millions of pounds of litter and debris on inland roadsides, coastal areas, inland lakes and rivers. Clean It Up, Green It Up will assist volunteers in Jacksonville to be part of this worldwide effort to clean and protect the environment by eliminating debris that injures wildlife, contaminates our beaches and waterways, and threatens boater safety. Local volunteers joined this effort and by recording results on our data cards are part of a scientific study of solid waste issues.

Cleanup is not limited to coastal areas since trash often originates inland and is moved by wind and rain to our waterways. Advance registration is not needed for the walk-up sites listed below. We look forward to assisting any volunteer group interested in cleaning up any area containing litter and debris. Volunteers may select a site or participate in one of the events listed.

Site captains will be available to register volunteers and provide bags and gloves at the sites listed below, or volunteers can select their own sites and contact Clean It Up, Green It Up to get their supplies.
