Title: New Thai Restaurant?
Post by: Basstacular on September 10, 2010, 11:04:09 AM
Just curious about the status of the new Thai restaurant that I heard is going above BG.  Has it opened yet?  Has anyone been yet?

Thanks

I'm interested as well.  I think 904scars was the first to mention anything about it.

It's called Indochine. They're putting the finishing touches on it. I had the opportunity to check it out, very cool interior...from what I understand their head chef is supposed to be pretty bad ass. From what I understand it's thai-fusion tho...but I could be wrong... Not sure of opening date. Will ask around...

Pretty sure they're shooting for an end of the month open.  I have a friend who will be serving there and he mentioned he's hoping to start around that time.

Also saw the interior and think it's very VERY cool.  I think this is going to be a go-to spot in "The Core".  I'm thinking between this and BG for art walk it will be a very packed building. lol

The name suggests that it will be Vietnamese rather than Thai.  The combination of French influence and Chinese influence in what used to be called Indochina, Laos, Vietnam, etc, resulted in some seriously wonderful food.  It was the first "Asian-fusion" cuisine.

You are correct sir, and I think that's what they'll be doing as one of the owner is Lao.

Pretty sure I'd go with the previous.
