Title: Preservation SOS Forum
Post by: strider on August 29, 2010, 01:27:27 PM
Many here know that there is indeed a new organization out here in historic Springfield, You have heard about it, read about it and have seen some of the founders out there speaking for the organization and for the at risk houses here in Historic Springfield.

First, let me formally introduce you to the organization. Preservation SOS, Inc. formally became an organization this past August 23, 2010 when the first set of documents, the Articles of Incorporation, were accepted by the State of Florida’s Division of Corporations. At six days old, we are still trying to figure out how to crawl and do not even have a method for people to join us yet.

While it is very true that some of the founders have talked about a new organization for years, it really has only been a couple of months since it became a possibility. And even then, a formal organization was decided out of necessity rather than it being the original plan. It was born out of the random acts of beauty and the Make it Happen at Miss Maggie’s. I think all of you will agree that it was born of the right stuff.

The few in the core group are simply the ones who responded to the “help!” that was sent out by our now acting President (acting because we have yet to finish the by-laws so we can have candidates and an election) Ms. Lopez. We had a meeting and also thought that as this is the 21st century, perhaps conducting business on line would be a good idea as well. That developed into using Facebook and when that turned out to be a bit awkward for various reasons, a forum was created just to accomplish that boring and often difficult task of organizing a new non-profit corporation.

As things like this are apt to do, it began to morph into a real forum and so discussions were being made to open it as our organization’s forum just as soon as we had the mechanics in place, you know, things like how do you even become a member and what all that means. Even though we are still working on those difficult by-laws issues, we feel it is time to go ahead and open the forum up to all. As we have already been out there speaking as an organization, as we indeed now a legal organization (non-profit status to be applied for) we can indeed open ourselves up to you, the people we hope to help.

So, the link to our forum is: http://forum.preservationsos.org/ If there are issues with this link, don't ask me! I have no clue but if you go there and can't get in or something, please PM me and I will get the word to someone who can help.

We also have a website in the works and we have a site were we have been collecting data on the houses, which we will also open up as soon as we can. I can’t do that and everyone who can is very busy so please give us a few days to mature a bit. After all we are really only 6 days old!

We will also post soon those soon to be finished by-laws so all can see what we are really about . We hope you like what you see and that you commit to helping us continue the fight to save the houses and to bring more random acts of beauty and Make It Happens to Springfield.

Password on SOS has to be between 6 and 100 char. You should be able to use the same user and password if the password meets the criteria. The two forums are completely independent.
