Anyone remember that really bad commercial from the 90's car dealership Amazing Autos? Where all these people kept saying "Amazing!" We used to make fun of that commercial and would love to get my hands on it.
And of course there were the Charter By the Sea commercials (if you don't get help with Charter, please get help somewhere). What happened to them?
And finally the Howards Television City or something like that ("Howard, It's not Jax-son-ville, It's Jacksonville")
Then there were the Southern Brick and Stone siding commercials ... don't remember any specifics, but they were pretty bad.
Wind proof, rain proof... CHICKEN PROOF!!!!
LEAVE ME COME OVER TO YOUR HOUSE!!!!!
THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!
Lucky guess on my part.
I'm too young to have seen those. ;)
The mobile home commercials have been rivaling bad lately.
Was just thinking about the Southern Brick and Stone Guy and "Leave me come over to your house!" You can't say those ads weren't memorable....
This YouTube Channel has a lot of the old commercials, kind of amazing how much they've changed. Born in 1980, I cannot believe how different it is now.

That Southside Gun commercial is still one of my favorite local commercials of all time. It was so unintentionally corny.
The guy's name from the Southern Brick and Stone commercial was Dolf Agloff. Always wore the Bermuda shorts.

That Murray Hill motors jingle was written by Diane Flynn - copywiter for channel 4. I worked in the "creative services dept" as a producer/director with her. Odd how some of these crazy commercials stick with us. Dolf (Southern Brick and Stone) used to stick a wired telephone handset in his belt (with the Bermuda shorts) and pull it out at the end of the spots and scream his phone number while pointing the handset at the camera.. Guess that was the first mobile phone. Thanks for the Murray Hills Motors Memory.
"Shakes and pies and golden fries, beefy burgers-buy them by the dozen,
meet me at Milligan's, they're always open."
This thread instantly reminded me of the commercials for a certain jewelry store.... "Monahan! ::clap, clap:: "The name you can trust in fine jewelry!"....
That jingle will forever annoy me. :-)
I realize this is an old string. I am trying to find a copy of the old Southern Brick and Stone Chicken Man commercial. I would think that there might be a copy on an old VHS tape. I wan to share this with my sons. It was annoying but highly effective. Still remember the name and product. Also if anyone has a copy of any Milligan's memorabilia, please share. (That's more for my childhood memory) Thank You in advance.
