Wow. This is almost as bad as having a city council candidate try to say that you are possibly a wife beater or a child molester.

Jerrys tactics are pretty hard core and I certainly dont agree with all of them, but I think he has gotten more shrill at the lack of results and who can completely blame him.

Clearly, if Jerry is telling little old black women "we don't want your kind around here anymore" he is going to far. I somehow don't think thats the case.

There are a couple of things in how this is written, and how it at first seems to be from the city, then it changes tone like its from an individual that make me think this might be a smear campaign.

What a shame that some people see dress and color as a ticket to "out" certain members of our City. Jacksonville, is a leader in it's melting pot culture. Call it the NAVY effect, or being an international port. I've lived around the America's and have NEVER encountered this in Jacksonville.

Oklahoma friendly? My kids were the "Spic's" of the school.
California liberal? We were the "Okies" of the block.
Medellin? Oh you better be "White Hispanic" or don't show up in certain neighborhoods.
Texas? Your NOT TEXAN?
Oregon? We hate everyone! Even have a billboard at the border saying "Don't Californicate Oregon!"

Believe me, my wife is Hispanic, my kids some would call Half Breeds... Guess I can't socialize with his sort, it won't cost me a minute, because frankly Mam, He doesn't mean a Damn to me!

There have been no improvements to the parking situation. The robo-nazi parking enforcement van is currently on patrol.

The problem with parking and the robo-nazi van is simple. The city just wants to make money any way they can....
They give the impression that they don't give a crap about small business downtown....
I know I'm getting off the subject but lets face it, if they did they would toss out any plan for the BRT, especially on the streets that have successful businesses, and not have a van driving around giving tickets if you're two seconds late getting to your meter.

Why risk going downtown and paying a ridiculous parking fine when you can stay in the burbs and park for free.
I personally don't feel that way, but believe me MOST of my friends do.
So they never go downtown....
Heck, I know people who have lived in Jacksonville for years and have never been downtown.

Title: Solution
Post by: Ocklawaha on September 18, 2007, 10:51:16 PM
Here's a simple solution...

We rip out all of the parking meters.

We turn all downtown streets back into two way traffic flow.

We re-install the toll booths on the Trout River Bridge. Then with smart technology we exempt all residents of the First Coast and SE Georgia from tolls.

We employ the homeless in Toll booths to collect $5.00 per car from every out of area tourist headed for Disney, or Miami.

We employ the other homeless with part of the revenues in keeping downtown clean, green and friendly. Those too "gone" to work get a new home near Kings Ferry (On the St. Marys River) or Exchange Island.

With the other monies, we build our own casinos, resorts, hotels, finish the Skyway and add Commuter and Light Rail.

Then we charge the tourists $5.00 to cross the bridge and $500.00 per night, to stay in our City and play in our resorts... Altel charges and gaming losses will be added to the tab...

Hey, it's a plan!

yeah parking nazis ticketed me for an expired tag (three days late) in a PRIVATE parking lot.  I'm going to court to contest it.

walter, don't be too upset.  They have to pay off the expenses of the new souped up van they're driving around these days.

i don't know how it is in florida, but i know that in other states you're required to have your car properly registered, whether it's on a public road or not and whether it's running or not.

Make sure it's a real ticket and not a Central Parking make-believe fantasy ticket.

I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned with.  Wait to see if they get the court involved.
