Title: A Jax Historical Commuter Train - Downtown to St. Aug!
Post by: rjp2008 on August 09, 2010, 12:10:30 PM
Non profit entity or public private partnership.

Train museum at GCSprings donates old train, J-villians fix it up and repurpose.
Beautifully painted and decorated. Serves food/snacks. Historical photos/videos onboard.
Games onboard for kids. A whole fun-zone onboard for kids.

Initially runs only on Saturdays/Sundays to start. Expands later as ridership grows.

FEC/CSX allows to run on tracks.

Surplus profits get donated to kids programs, homeless, historical society, etc.

Newspaper and city loves the idea because it promotes Jax, tourism, history etc.

What do you think?

Is this something that is definately in the works, or just an idea? It sounds great to me!
