Here are the minutes for the HPC meeting as it relates to this house.

Who is Ms. Lancaster? Do we taxpayers pay her salary? The minutes from these historic commission meetings sound worse than council meetings. :-[ I'm concerned lately about the lack of professionalism from so many of our city representatives and employees. Obviously these are from a few years ago, so I guess the standards have always been sub par. Has anyone seen the Weekend Update segment "Really?" with Seth Myers? Really Jacksonville? Really?
The report from Atlantic Engineering was not included in HPC file. Perhaps it is in the file at Code Enforcement.

I heard the swoosh and thought couldn't be but alas I was wrong! How did this one slip by as we campaign to stop demolition? I am dumbfounded! Touche COJ!
Shameful news.

click on it, to watch it.
It bore a green demo tag. Was bid out for demolition many months ago after the HPC approved it going on the formal track for demolition. Sewer lines were cut in July.
I don't agree with any of this, nor will I ever. Just stating the facts above.

Yes Ethylene, COJ's Code Enforcement is showing us all that they have a bigger schwanz.
Dear COJ, HPC, and Property Appraiser's Office:
The home you just razed was shown on the tax appraiser's site as having a value of $91,000. What math skills are you using here? It costs money to tear it down - cha-ching. You now have a tax value of almost nothing - cha-ching. What are you thinking? Is this better? Helloooo!
Seems so easy to take these old houses down, and yet, we still have the park view inn.

Too true! This makes me wonder just who is taking these homes down and what their connection with the COJ is? Maybe someone with connections and an inside track..........does anyone know who they are? I am refering to the deconstruction outfit!
"Deconstruction outfit" is too kind. Demolition's the name and demolition is the game. One of these outfits spent time in my alley on my property for over 24 hours to tear down a new derelict structure completely out of code.
The tractor sat idle on my lot before and after scraping the site to the bare ground without notice much less permission! I also watched as the demo began around 8am and the first order of business was to pull and tug at a large tree on that lot that had inconveniently grown in the way.
On the one hand, I was happy to see this "building" go but dang...my lot behind my garage got chewed up. Ruts left behind are so deep they are hard to drive over. I called the city the next morning to see when they intended to move this bulldozer. I had to leave a message and someone called back from the city stating they had no record of it. I know the owners did not bring it down. Fortunately for all, it was moved before I got the call back.
Are there demolition permits on record for the worl done?
WHY?!?
How can all the lovers and friends of Springfield hold hands, sit idle and type strongly worded complaints here, when we have no answers!
I certainly do not intend to seem condemning_but this activity warrants transparency.
Joel McEachin (HPC), Kay Ehas (RAP), Stepen Dare. You all care about preserving the historic fabric!
why aren't we marching?
We have not been sitting idly by while this is going on, there's many of us that are fighting this through the appropriate venues....it's just not an easy nor quick task to stop the city from knocking away at our historic fabric
