The JTA Riverside Trolley Needs Your Help!
JTA is hosting a public hearing Friday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 - 6 p.m. at the JTA administrative offices at 100 N. Myrtle Avenue. The purpose of the hearing is to present proposed changes to the transit system (including Riverside Trolley) that go into effect September 6, 2010, and get public feedback.
Support for the proposed Riverside Trolley service is critical to its continued success, thus we are asking you to encourage your continuants / employees to comment on the proposed new Riverside Trolley Service (see map). If they are not able to attend the public hearing, they can submit their comments on the proposed route before the public hearing at the www.JTAFLA.com website or simply by clicking here http://www.jtafla.com/RidingJTA/showPage.aspx?Sel=19.
If you have any questions about the hearing, please feel free to contact me or call 904 630-3100.
Thanks!

sure, get it done.
This is awesome! JTA did a rider survey about a year and a half ago about extending service to Avondale and also extending service to cover RAM on Saturdays. I've been asking anyone I know about the outcome of this survey(several times on this site even).
I am making arrangements to be at the 11AM meeting. If anyone is interested in going, I'll buy you a coffee at Uptown or Three Layers afterward.
If you can't go, it's REAL easy to leave a comment on the JTA website in support of this service.
Hurray! Something I've been asking for. Good idea about posting on the website.
Good deal. Does anyone know the frequency of the loops?
I believe it will be 15 minutes.
I wonder if it will still cost just $0.50...and will they expand the hours beyond lunch time?
There was an article in the monthly newsletter that circulates my work saying that JTA was considering discontinuing the Riverside Trolley. This was about a month ago. So I am glad to hear now that they are thinking about expanding the route.
Has anyone else heard anything about JTA maybe discontinuing the Trolley.
When will they start laying the track?
Potato chips, anyone?

I would encourage you to leave a comment via the link posted above in support of this service. It takes less than five minutes!
I have it on good word that the Riverside Trolley is expected to run during Art Walk until 12am. The trolley will pass a stop every 35 minutes. More information as I find out.
Since it only takes something like 10 requests to change a route... Wonder if we could push 10 requests from MJ? If you agree with the idea, you could copy and paste the request, then confirm with MJ that you sent it in. We shall sit in the corner and watch for effect.
It might require one more bus on the route to keep the 30 minute headways, but if BOTH the Ortega and RIVERSIDE shuttles made this loop it would greatly change the services.
copy and paste;

Extend the RIVERSIDE "TROLLEY" PCT BUS to a South end loop around Fairfax, via HERSCHELL-LAKESIDE-ROOSEVELT-SAN JUAN-HERSCHELL.
Give us a true urban shuttle with business at both ends of the route.
SEND VIA: http://www.jtafla.com/RidingJTA/showPage.aspx?Sel=19.

Anyone else want to play?

Thank you for visiting jtafla.com.
Urban Jacksonville posted it to their Facebook page...
I posted a comment to JTA

Their website suck. I am a full-time web developer / designer.
I can easily SPAM the s*** out of their contact form.
