Title: Best place to watch Fireworks from Riverside?
Post by: 5pointy on July 03, 2010, 02:33:22 PM
Would like to find a good place to watch the 4th fireworks from Riverside area . Will be bringing an elderly family member, so easy nearby parking/flat walking, safe etc is a priority. I wonder if the viewing from the RAM area would be good? Anyone have a favorite spot on the Northbank they would like to share?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

RAM site is a little far away for best viewing but it is easy to get parking nearby and go a little way down the Riverwalk.

We are going to try the YMCA access this year to be a little closer, but hope we can find parking not too far away as we have little ones visiting.

Thanks- too bad that the Riverside Trolley won't be running for the event. I know the Skyway is running, but a few times we have used it for the Special Events we arrived back at the Landing Skyway and found that the trains had been shut down earlier than planned--an expensive cab ride back to the Convention Center where we had parked. ???

Not necessarily Riverside... but the Ortega River Bridge always gets filled with people for the firework festivities.

Also the Cummer is having a concert in the garden to go along with the fireworks...$10 per person

I parked my car on May Street at Lomax Street.  I walked over to the grassy strip of land by the bulkhead at the end of Lomax and watched the fireworks with a small crowd of people.  When the show ended, I got back in my car and managed to avoid the traffic mess that downtown visitors probably had to deal with.

The downtown traffic leaving the fireworks was legendary.  I watched them from my balcony for a good half hour.  At least 100 cars were stuck on various off ramps of I-95 during the fireworks themselves.  Poor guys.  Show up earlier next year.

We rode our bikes down to the southbank.  Best idea ever.  The NB offramp to acosta/main st on 95 was like a parking lot.

Yeah I also watched them from my front porch. Can't beat it.
