Well, depends on how much you're looking to spend.  Fish and chips at O'Brothers/London Bridge... or something nicer like fresh snapper?

Something a little nicer:
Bistro or BB's in San Marco

Bennys, Charthouse, Mortons in DT

Orsay, Bluefish, Town in Avondale

BTW, you should sign up with Groupon.  In the last week they've had coupons at Bennys and Pastiche.  Not a bad deal at all.

Any suggestions for a place with a fried seafood platter?

Trents, Saltys or Singletons.

Not fried but there are lots of great seafood places at the beach(Ragtime, Sliders, Beachside Seafood, Eleven South, Barbara Jeans, Caps, etc.)  Plus fish tacos and bangin shrimp tacos at Taco Lu.

I picked up a groupon recently for Marker 32! I haven't been recently but it was good in the past, and they are known for seafood but 3/4 of the way to the beach, I realize.

Marker 32 changed up their menu about a year ago.  The menu overall is a little less pricey than it was in the past.  Still good though!

They also have a coupon in the Teal Deals booklet(along with Bistro Aix, Orsay, BBs, Biscottis, and many others).  Yet another reason to be a Jags season ticket holder  :)

Crab Creek Cafe has really fresh seafood in Arlington, it is a hole in the wall but good fish and clean.  Seafood Kitchen in Jax Beach/St. Augustine has fried platters.

The Teal Deals booklet is great wasn't expecting the variety that they provide.  From casual to more upscale and all over the city!

Anyplace in the urban core?

Not that I know of for fried seafood... I guess the closest would be Checkers BBQ.  They have a good lunch buffet on Fridays with fried fish, cheese grits, etc.

Now I have a hankering for some fried catfish, black eyed peas and collard greens.  May have to bust out the slow cooker tonight, lol.

I have to agree with the Checker BBQ suggestion.  Art's fried or blackened shrimp is the best around.  His "trailer trash special" is the best deal around; 15 fried shrimp, pulled pork sandwich, fried green tomatoes and choice of side for around $8 the last I checked.  Enough for 2 meals +.

Anyone know if they're still BYOB?

I want to go too.. its like 5 minutes from the Dome (my house)  and I have heard multiple people say it is really good seafood.  So I will be checking it out.

A seafood place opened in what was once Chopper City.......  don't bother. It was horrible. :(
